How nice of the kids to leave us that nice pretty hunk of concrete huh? I was looking for something to use as a tire chock. Now I dont have to look any more!

This images is larger than 153600 bytes. Click to view.

They hit three neighborhood cars. All same way. And spray painted BME on a few houses and walls. Happend between 1 and 2am. Happens every summer in one form or another. Theres cops on bikes that patrol the area constantly. Of course nobody saw anything.

Gotta say that I't is deeply saddening. However on the bright side I will be able to fix that window seal thats coming out. Sadly we only have liability on the fiero.

Nice chunk of concrete tho...

Kids are out of school for the summer. I'll remember this image next time our public schools ask for more tax money.

Me thinks you need a place with a garage.

liability only shouldnt matter, i dont think full coverage would have made a difference, as a front windshield should be under $150 installed, which is probably cheaper than the deductable of full coverage,

Damn dude, that sucks! At least they just got the windshield - a little lower and it would have bounced off the hood into the windshield and you'd be replacing both...

I had Safelite do the windshield on my Volvo last month. I know I'm in Oklahoma but they're a national company.

I agree, at least they didn't hit the hood, or window frame and end up having the car totaled due to the cost/value ratio. if i caught the kids, id put the same rock thru their foreheads.

My last windshield, after i had a chunk of ice go thru it this winter, was $250.

Timing was bad, i wasn't ready to replace the roof yet which would have been a perfect time while it was out...

I despise cowards that do crap like this. Tiny brains--small enough to match their pecker size.

Somewhere in archives, is a picture of my old Jeep Cherokee--covered in paper, rice, refried beans, chili, and Hersheys chocolate syrup spelling out all sorts of white supremists crap, but at least all it cost to 'fix' it, was the price of a carwash.

Years ago we had some kids toss zliplock bags of what i think was salad dressing on several cars.. I was "lucky" enough to have it hit my windshield and leak down into the AC system vents.. took months to get the car from not smelling rancid every time i turned the heat or AC on.

In my case they had to go INTO my drive way as i park pointing towards my house.

The problem with these kids starts with their parents.
2 years ago, I had my 86 Fiero parked curbside.
My house is 1.5 blocks form the high school...and there ae several groups of kids that walk by on their way home.
My home office faces the street...and I looked out my window one afternoon to see a group of teen boys hanging aroung the Fiero.
I thought they were just looking at it until one of them started to pour a Big Gulp down the back vents... before he did, one of the other boys saw me in the window and told him I was watching, which stopped him from actually pouring soft drinlk all over my motor. They started to walk off, I caught them about a half block away and explained to them if I caught them messing with my car again, I was going to whoop some ass.

Of course... the smartss boy who was doing the deed went home and told his dad I threaten him - an dad came back to confront me.... after I explained to him what took place, rather than coerrect his son for criminal behavior, the dad called the cops on me! when the cops showed up... I had to explain that I was not a 50+ year old guy that had a habit of of interrupting my busy work day as an engineer... and running outside just to harass a bunch of innocent teenage boys on their way home from school. Needless to say the cops understood (even though the moronic father couldn't see his angelic son as doing any wrong). they were told not to walk on the side of the road with the Fiero and that if anything happened to it, they would be looked at closely.

Now... this isn't a unique happening, similar things have happened before... what the hell is wrong with parents - had I behaved like this when I was a kid in the 60s/70's - my dad would have beat my ass and made me work weekends for whoever I had wronged...
so many kids now have zero respect for elders, other's property, right vs wrong.... and I say it's 70% the parent's fault and 30% the passive society we live in now...
time out doesn't work... a bend over the tailgate and a good switching is the better option....just be careful to aim well and not to scratch the paint.

(Many--if not most) Kids have absolutely zero respect for property belonging to others and they get that--for the most part--from their parents.

Here's what I found on MY way out this morning (should I have started my own thread?)...

On the driveway at least 25 feet from the road.

No apparent injuries, unless he fell out of a tree.

He was already stiff.

WTF where are you in Maine? One of the beach districts? Last windshield I got I used PPG and it cost me $250 in 05. And yes it was for a Fiero. Others here recommended other places but they don’t come out here to the boonies.

Good luck,

Steve

If there underage kids, they get by without even a slap on the wrist..and they know it, so their not afraid of getting caught. Ive got them redhanded and they were released to parents within minutes. Luckily for me I caught them before they damaged anything. They were breaking into cars and stealing tools and stereos and had a pickup bed full.

There are 3 insurance types....Liability, you have to have to cover damage to others, Collision, that pays for damage to your car whether or not your at fault, and Comprehensive which covers natural causes like storms, and vandleism, including broken windows and slashed tires. You can get any of the 2 or more. Lots of my Corvette friends only carry the Comprehensive during winter when theyre not driving it. Comp is not that expensive and usually glass is covered with no deductable.

If you know anyone who works at a place that has a commercial account with Safelite, they will usually replace employee’s windshields for the same price they would charge the business. That is usually much cheaper than retail, maybe half of what you were quoted. I had a Jeep Cherokee windshield replaced for $88 once doing that. That was about four years ago so it might be more by now. Just pay cash and any taxes so the business is not billed.

We were thinking a couple of motorcycle helmets with face shields!

The cop who showed up that morning just called me. Says he put down $600 in damages in the report.

I'm taking ideas on what to do with that pretty rock they left me. I'm thinking a matching paint scheme with a fiero logo on the flat side.

This images is larger than 153600 bytes. Click to view.

Note; thats a full size red bull not the mini one.... Sigh...

This is exactly why I only hang out with a few people that are my age. (16) I completely agree that most teens have ZERO respect. I apologize on behalf of those bastards about what they did to your beautiful Fiero.

Squirrels are famous for electrocuting themselves - usually in a spectacular manner.
(That "transformer explosion" that you occasionally hear is usually a squirrel stepping from a wire to a grounded transformer case, which blows the transformer fuse.)
