WAUPUN — An 8-year-old who brought a fake bomb to a Waupun school because he had "mean teachers" has been suspended.

Waupun Deputy Chief Mindy Hendricks said a third-grade student at Rock River Intermediate School told fellow students on Monday that he had brought a bomb to school.

School officials confiscated a plastic eyeglasses case filled with two batteries, a flashlight bulb, six nails and a screw with a piece of thread.

When questioned, the student told Investigator Brian O'Donovan that it was a nuclear bomb that he wanted to set off in order to activate the fire alarms because he had mean teachers.

The student later admitted it was a trick and not a bomb.

Hendricks said students were upset by the child's actions.

The 8-year-old was released to his parents and suspended from school for three days.

Charges of disorderly conduct and issuing a bomb threat have been forwarded to Dodge County Social Services.

How would an 8 year old get hold of nuclear (radioactive?) elements? I could in highschool - - but that's a major age difference.

I don't think the kid really thought this through...

Zero tolerance policies strike again. They won't fix the problem but will make everything worse.

The little **** brought a fake bomb to school and the school is wrong for zero tolerance?

LOL!

I do agree he needs credit for creative thinking ... In my lunch box, I have a bomb.
