I really like Best Sync, but the free version will only do network folders for 7 days. I can keep reinstalling, but I would rather not. Very simple. Music goes to music, documents goes to stuff, pictures to pictures. no compression. 1:1 copy.

Free isn't always 'better'

ViceVersa is relatively cheap

Don't most external drives come w/ a sync utility?

What version of Windows?

They have synch capabilites built in...

'Synch center' or whatever it's called...

You want it to compress the files?

The WD software is crap. Just a simple, copy one folder from my pc (7) to the network drive (WD MyBook). I already have all the files moved, i just want to keep the backup up to date.

Always a good idea to have a 'one way synch' (to destination) or a non-editable backup (DVD or something else)

God forbid your antivirus , Microsoft, or something else decides to delete some files it thinks are virii or are 'broken' or whatever...

You can never have too many backups!

I have local copies on my PC and do a 1 way sync to the NAS. Looking into an online storage. This is mainly for my pics.
