Cheap. Making room for a new car (need a 2 door with a 5spd). Books about 1750 in good condition private party, and just over 1800 with the insurance company. Make me a reasonable offer. EDIT: $800 as is, no more no less Looking for quick sale so I can get back home to PA. Willing to deliver for price of gas and plane/train/bus ticket (whatever is cheapest) also.
Specs as follows:
1993 Ford Escort LX (Nebraska car, no rust through, surface rust only), just over 155k miles on the odometer 1.9l SOHC l4 (impossible to kill these motors unless you overheat them and blow a head gasket) Auto trans (F-4EAT 4 speed auto OD) A/C, retrofitted to R134 4 door (obviously) New CV axle (left front) New ball joint (left front)/outer tie rod ends (both sides) New intake manifold gasket New(er) alternator New Dayco belt tensioner/serpentine belt New timing belt/water pump Newer brake pads (~65% life left in fronts, shoes in rear about 50%) All 4 tires have substantial tread left (one is brand new, less than 200 miles), approximately 75% life left. New alignment (today) Full size spare tire Aftermarket CAI (cheap ebay one, works surprisingly well) Short Cherrybomb (18") glass pack straight thru muffler (don't ask. sounds half decent though, considering the engine size) New fuel filter Oil changed at 2500 miles since I've owned it (I am third owner) New Pioneer front speakers (all 4 are new but I am keeping the head unit and 2 rear speakers since they are a combo) Hella 100w/80w headlight bulbs (not cheap at all, even with my discount through rallylights.com) I consistently see around 35-36 MPG highway, 28-30 city, and about 33 or so combined.
I have all receipts for the work that has been done on the car since I bought it (with exception to maybe 1 or 2, have to look). Anyone who knows me can attest that I am anal and OCD about repairs on my cars and will go the extra mile to fix things that aren't broken as general maintenance (even when they aren't general maintenance items, right BackonHoliday? ) Only other issues that it has that I know of are as follows:
-Right front inner tie rod is slightly loose. Not bad but recommend replacement in the not so distant future (~$15 at rockauto) -Could use new struts all around in the future (rides a bit rough, and I only recommend replacing them due to mileage/age. Not necessary needed). -Headliner and sun visors could use recovering, which isn't a big deal (cosmetic)
I drove this car from Nebraska to PA and back, with no problems at all. I can run it at 80 on the highway all day long and still see the above MPG numbers. Cheap to fill (11 gal tank), and gets around pretty well. Not the nicest car in the world, but great for new drivers, young moms, etc. Parts are cheap, next to nothing, and junkyard parts are even cheaper since these cars are a dime a dozen Clear, unbranded Nebraska title, in my name.
I will shoot you a reasonable low ball. 200 delivered.
Reasonable huh? Wanna bite my arse first?
If you are genuinely interested, for you I'd come down on price. Make me a serious offer if you want it And don't give me the "its an Escort, they are a dime a dozen" speech I've heard it many times before. Numbers don't lie
Edit: Just remembered. New front brake hoses (both sides) about 2 weeks ago ($50 alone) and a new failsafe Stant thermostat

Looks at thread *I have never filed taxes*. Ummmmmmmm. Yea. Considering I have a net pay of a little over 2k this would be imposable for me.
lol, I see.
On another note, I'll entertain trades for a smaller vehicle or a 91-96 eclipse/talon or another 88 Fiero Whatever it is, it must be 5 speed. Some assembly required ok (provided it runs, drives, and stops)

What you offering? I just got done installing Duel Weber Carbs on it and a new fuel tank, new top and workings, stripped the body down to metal and fixed what little rust there was, its in primer, new tires and powdercoated wheels. the new rad and thermostat and water pump were done a year ago tomorow.
You give me two inches of height, I'll give you 30 pounds, I think we'd all be happy.
Being so tall has its advantages and many many disadvantages. Always having to change the light bulbs, reach the top shelf, paint the ceiling with a handbrush.
Pluses being better views, i can look down chicks shirts, and i can make fun of Rob (jetsnvettes2000) for being bald

Lol, I know that feeling But the perks more than make up for it

Wow, is that part of the deal? You drive down, bit our arse, then take a bus back? I'm ALMOST tempted to buy this for someone I know (You just hafta bite THIER ass, ok? In fact, you can drive the car back after you do the deed!)
Good luck - hope you find a buyer.

Need wheels for the wifey... good mpg, working AC, and a radio is all she wants. Tempting.
Hell of a drive, though.
I deliver I drove from Kearney to Philly (1800 mile drive) on about $200, if not slightly less (have to look at my receipts for gas from the trip). Cover the gas and buy me a bus ticket to PA and I'd bring it out to ya Same deal I offered MarineFiero when he bought his Reatta a few years back. I love to drive the open highways, and I;ve nver ben to tennesee, so I'd definitely love to selll to ya And I have an aunt down there in Franklin (?) so I could always stay a night with them possibly
So, whoever is interested and comes up with the cash first gets the car PM if you are interested ad we can work the details
Doni: Got your PM. I'll shoot some pics over in the around mid day tomorrow. In my sleep deprived state this morning, I apparently agreed to go to my MMA coaches church. IIRC there was a promise of free lunch which is probably why I agreed hehe
skuzzbomber: I'd be going to Reading Intercity bus terminal (Grayhound does run there, so does Trailways). I believe the zip code is 19604 or 19603, not sure off the top of my head (Reading has about 12 different zip codes, 5 of which are in the city itself around where the bus terminal is). Only thing is I'm going to have to look into baggage restrictions, etc since I will most likely have all my stuff packed up and in the car to take with me back from Nebraska to PA. I know they do shipping via Greyhound, not sure of the pricing though.
Uaana: check the thread tomorrow around mid day as well for pics
I will tell you now, its not the prettiest car in the world. Paint isn't terrible, but the front bumper was replaced over the summer (by me) and it is a bit lighter and faded than the rest of the car (its a dark teal color and the bumper is a turquoise green). I have decided to fix the inner tie rod on the front left and the rear right spring before selling it, the tie rod is $12 at oreilly's. The spring I will probably be picking up from the boneyard. I will also warn you that the interior pics I take are going to be a bit messy. I haven't cleaned the car out since before Christmas, so the back seat is piled with books and sh*t. I will however be cleaning it out before the new owner takes the car, and I will be vacuuming and detailing the car as well. Last thing to mention is that the dash is in perfect shape. These Escorts were known to crack the dashes on the passenger side. This one is flawless
Overall its a great car. Again, i am OCD and very anal when it comes to my cars and i spare no expense to make sure they are mechanically sound. Ask BoH The number of unnecessary repairs I did on my Fiero in his driveway should be more than enough proof
Like I said above, first one to guarantee me cash and put it in my hands gets the car
