The remaining creditcards have collapsed. The interest just exceded the payments. Crunched the numbers, it would take 58 years to pay off a $22,000 total.
We are now in the hands of Debt Consoladation Inc. Through them and $500 a month, we will be paid off in 6 years or so.
The party's over.
From a distant past, the soft sound of Taps glides gently over the present mist. A tear, a quiver, a cobwebbed wallet creaks begrudgingly closed.
The Dogs Of Debt are loosed....teeth-knashing, devouring all in their path. I their keeper, bent to feed them well. For I am their feast.
Bon Appetit.

I hope he learned a lesson. I don't say that from a position of condemnation, but from a position of having been there. Good luck to you Boonie, hang in there.

' Beware of the hunters, for their bait hides so well The sharp barb that snares, the unwary t'ward Hell The bait tastes so fine, and so innocent looks but the disguise is so artful, hiding the hooks. Unwary and so hungry the victim swims in toward the lures of temptation , and the ransom within.
He takes hold the bait, and turns to devour the tasty sweet morsels, that so soon will turn sour. ¡The sharp pain, the raping of sensitive flesh The wheels of misfortune, so quick to enmesh The unfortunate victim struggles to escape But the hunter almighty, will seal his fate.
How to escape? Is it possible to do? Only by sacrifice, and dilligence too. Sell all the bait that has led you to this Buy yourself time with the things you WON'T miss. YOU have the power to set yourself free Start from this minute, and soon you will see.
You can do it Boonie...one way or another Nick

I'm neither supprised nor complaining. This is exactly how it was supposed to go, based on the questionable desisions I made. . . . <<<<<<<<< Everything is proceeding according to the self-prophecy.

Hope this doesn't affect your wife's job, or your quest to find your own. .
In America now, it pretty much brands you for life. I think its unfair and should be illegal unless you are trying to be a CFO or something, but its part of normal investigation for most any job now.

See, thats something that we in Canada would never put up with...some (a few) employers want to run credit checks on prospective hires (which is actually illeagal unless ya sign the waiver or the job involves a position of financial trust)...those companies that try...interview hundreds and cant get anybody to work for them, sometimes not even show up for the interview.
I personally went thru it 2 months ago with a car alarm company...they slapped the contract/ waiver down and wanted me to sign...and the answer was "no"--just on principal. That company went belly-up last week. Simply because nobody would agree to work for them under what they wanted.
Sorry, but my Visa statement is none of my employers damn business. Eff 'em if they dont like it.

They don't typically care what your balance is, only if you're a good credit risk or bad one. If you're a bad credit risk, there's higher potential for theft, etc. Of course, if your employer wants to know and you don't like it, you can certainly tell them to FO on your way to the unemployment office. That's a choice everyone has.
Long ago, a friend and I were talking finances and debt. He had a failed business, more house than he could afford and bills that would go unpaid. It really did not bother him and I asked how he could feel that way and his explanation interesting-
"It is just zeros on a piece of paper. The difference between $10 dollars and $100 is not $90, but just a zero. The difference between being $2,000 in debt, $20,000 or $200,000 is just another zero or two. I don't lose sleep over a zero here or there. If I mind my pennies and nickels, the dollars will take care of themselves."
Eventually, he paid off everything and lives comfortably. If this guy can pull it off, I know you can too.

I did the exact same thing with about the same amount a few years back. Paid in full. I can do it again.
What's the saying? "Insanity is doing the same thing over & over again expecting different results." As I expected these very results, I am most perfectly sane.
A goobie goobie goo. Who's the sane boy? A goobie goo....

Reminds me of a comment the late Sen Dirkson is reputed to have uttered about the federal budget and a $328 B debt ceiling--way back when. "A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon it adds up to real money.."
How right he was.
Don't worry Boonie, you are in way better shape than many and certainly better off than the govt. You have a plan to work your way clear--they OTOH, don't have a clue.

Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case for thousands (millions?) of Americans in the last year or so who've walked away from their home and mortgages. It's a grim situation and not getting better for a lot of people down there.

I'm sure I will. A small change in attitude, a move here, an adjustment there, and badda-bing badda-boom, i'm golden. Well, maybe not golden, but definatly some kind of silver-like substance.

Wow, that's about 18% annual interest rate. Wells Fargo is offering unsecured personal loans to people with bad credit at rates between 4.49% and 15.1%. http://www.dailyrosetta.com...ells-fargo/5610.html If you were charged the highest rate there your payments would be around $466/month. If you got the lowest rate your payment would be around $350. Might be worth shopping around, could save you enough to dine out once a month.

Keep an eye towards Boeing. They have to be hiring sometime
They are hiring right now.
No Slowdown In Sight For Boeing Hiring
KING 5 News January 26, 2011 at 1:11 PM
Boeing's been hiring people for months, and it looks like there's no end in sight.
This morning, Boeing CEO Jim McNerney re-affirmed that the company is still looking to add 4,000 to 5,000 jobs company wide in 2011. But where?
With production rates rising on the Renton-built 737 and Everett-built 777 and adding production lines for the 787 in both Everett and Charleston, South Carolina, Boeing needs more folks. The defense side of the house is projected to be fairly flat, and the Air Force hasn't determined whether Boeing or EADS/Airbus wins the tanker contract.
Boeing employment spokesman Tim Healy expects the bulk of that number will be in Puget Sound and Charleston, S.C., but no specific numbers for Puget Sound are available.

They are ramping up productiion in Renton. If the tanker deal goes thru, they'll hire more bodies in Everett. Once the 787 gets sorted, production will start up on the east coast. If a new 737 replacement gets the nod, additional engineering help will be needed in the Puget Sound. Things will be happening in 2011.
