Astrological signs are determined by the position of the sun relative to certain constellations on a person's day of birth. The problem is, the positions were determined more than 2,000 years ago. Nowadays, the stars have shifted in the night sky so much that horoscope signs are nearly a month off.

Despite the complete lack of scientific and observational evidence for astrology, 25 percent of Americans still believe in it, a recent Pew survey found. So here are the "real" dates of astrological signs, according to astronomers:

•Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.

•Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.

•Pisces: March 11-April 18.

•Aries: April 18-May 13.

•Taurus: May 13-June 21.

•Gemini: June 21-July 20.

•Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.

•Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.

•Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.

•Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.

•Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.

•Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17.

•Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

The list includes Ophiuchus, a formation the ancient Babylonians discarded because they wanted 12 star signs, not 13. That's yet another example of how astrologers cherry-pick and ignore astronomical observations, Rao said.

When I can't even depend on the astrological signs not changing on me, what do I have left?

Regardless, I STILL have 2 signs FIGHTING over me.

I have no idea what the difference means... but I think when they "explain" the personality traits of each of these signs, pretty much anyone can relate to them.

That isn't nothing new, some dude back in the early AD period figured this out. At what this astronomer claims

But the guy is actually wrong. Your Horoscope is actually based on the Sun, not the Constellations. Although your sign is named after the Constellations, but the birth sign is tied to the vernal equinox. That means your Horoscope sign hasn't changed.

The Constellations move throughout the era, and they deal with long time periods known as "Ages". During the time when the Sphinx was built, that was the Age of Leo. I know when Jesus was born, we were moving in the Age of Pisces, hence the Fish symbol. There is a source that explains the wobble of the Earth and the position of the dominate Constellation. An Age usually last around 2000 years. We are actually about to begin a new Age. (Some say we already did back in 1996).

He got Ophiuchus wrong also. You will notice that he only gives Scorpio 7-days.

The story of Ophiuchus is an odd one. See Scorpio was sent to Orion to kill him, because Orion threaten to kill all the animals. Ophiuchus was a great healer, as so, brought back Orion from life after Scorpio killed him. But doing so, Ophiuchus was damned by Scorpio and he would always be on his feet, with both pincher around him.

So basically Ophiuchus was granted by Zeus to hang in the sky, but only to honor him, but not to have any special recognition, because he brought back Orion against Zeus orders, actually Zeus kills Ophiuchus.

Ophiuchus then has to stay within Scorpio and take on his traits, but was considered "bad luck" days. Meaning the 360 degrees of the Zodiac, but having 365 days a year, the 5 extra days were thrown to Ophiuchus but in the middle of Scorpio's Sun time. The Mayans also had the 5-days of bad luck on their calendar as well.

So Ophiuchus is recognized but nobody is given (Western Astrology) his sign as it is the mark of bad luck. So you are a Scorpio, because he rules Ophiuchus anyways.

Not anymore, because we have Pope Gregory XIII to thank for that.

Astrology is interesting for Mythology and Ancient Civilization studies.

I tried to see if there was any thing tied to the prediction arts trying my best to understand it and apply it to a date. A no go.

WEIRD AL YANKOVIC

"Your Horoscope For Today"

Aquarius
There's travel in your future when your tongue freezes to the back of a speeding bus
Fill that void in your pathetic life by playing Whack-A-Mole seventeen hours a day

Pisces
Try to avoid any Virgos or Leos with the Ebola virus
You are the true Lord of the Dance, no matter what those idiots at work say

Aries
The look on your face will be priceless when you find that forty pound watermelon in your colon
Trade toothbrushes with an albino dwarf, then give a hickey to Meryl Streep

Taurus
You will never find true happiness - what you gonna do, cry about it?
The stars predict tomorrow you'll wake up, do a bunch of stuff, and then go back to sleep

That's your horoscope for today (that's your horoscope for today)
That's your horoscope for today
That's your horoscope for today (that's your horoscope for today)
That's your horoscope for today

Gemini
Your birthday party will be ruined once again by your explosive flatulence
Your love life will run into trouble when your fiance hurls a javelin through your chest

Cancer
The position of Jupiter says you should spend the rest of the week face down in the mud
Try not to shove a roll of duct tape up your nose while taking your driver's test

Leo
Now is not a good time to photocopy your butt and staple it to your boss's face, oh no
Eat a bucket of tuna-flavored pudding, then wash it down with a gallon of strawberry Quik

Virgo
All Virgos are extremely friendly and intelligent - except for you
Expect a big surprise today when you wind up with your head impaled upon a stick

That's your horoscope for today (that's your horoscope for today)
That's your horoscope for today
That's your horoscope for today (that's your horoscope for today)
That's your horoscope for today

Now you may find it inconceivable or at the very least a bit unlikely
that the relative position of the planets and the stars could have
a special deep significance or meaning that exclusively applies to only you,
but let me give you my assurance that these forecasts and predictions
are all based on solid, scientific, documented evidence, so you would have
to be some kind of moron not to realize that every single one of them is absolutely true.

Where was I?

Libra
A big promotion is just around the corner for someone much more talented that you
Laughter is the very best medicine, remember that when your appendix bursts next week

Scorpio
Get ready for an unexpected trip when you fall screaming from an open window
Work a little harder on improving your low self-esteem, you stupid freak

Sagittarius
All your friends are laughing behind your back (kill them)
Take down all those naked pictures of Ernest Borgnine you've got hanging in your den

Capricorn
The stars say that you're an exciting and wonderful person, but you know they're lying
If I were you, I'd lock my doors and windows and never never never never never leave my house again

That's your horoscope for today (that's your horoscope for today)
That's your horoscope for today
That's your horoscope for today (that's your horoscope for today)
That's your horoscope for today

That's your horoscope for today (that's your horoscope for today)
That's your horoscope for today
That's your horoscope for today (yay yay yay yay yay)
That's your horoscope for today

Saw a program a while back I think it was the "Amazing Randi" that hosted and he did an experiment with a bunch of students. He asked them their B-days and gave them a corresponding astrological chart which gave examples of their signs tendencies and so on. He then asked the students to rate how accurate they thought they charts were and the results were pretty high as most students thought they charts very accurately matched their personality etc. He then explained that the charts he had given were all the same.

Just like a lot of other things you can pick and choose what seems most appropriate to you and ignore the rest.

Edit: Found a video clip of the show I was talking about
