A few buddies of mine are working on a project, It's called "Foreshadows: Ghosts of Zero" whichwill be out soon - it's a collection of interconnected short stories with a dvd of music meant to be played while you read them. The stories are set in the future (around 2090) and from what I've been exposed to so far, it seems to be some very cool stuff.
What I'm hoping is that some of you that are into this sort of thing can help me spread the word a little -
Spread the word on any forums you belong to (especially if they are sci-fi or related to this in some way) 5 minutes of your time making a post of two would REALLY help.
One of the guys involved is a good friend of mine, and I would really like to see this project be successful.
The book + CD will probably be very reasonable in price, and would make for an interesting experience.
Any other ways to take this 'viral' would be appreciated...
Thanks in advance.

The only Cyberpunkish reading I've done have been in Shadowrun RPG books, however I enjoyed what I read in them and playing the game. I may have to check this out.

Well, I know the plots of most of the stories, some of it sounds like Gibson's earlier works, but this spin on the future isn't as depressing as some of the material currently out there. Music's pretty cool, too!

I've been meaning to read Stephenson since Cryptonomicon, but never have. Thanks for the reminder.
Also, he's not really cyberpunk, but I'd argue his prose has the same rapid fire visuals that Gibson made famous: Neil Gaiman. American Gods could pass for a psychology text, a sociology text, a theology text, or a philosophy text.
I picked up Burning Chrome. It's pretty good. I'm suprised how short Johnny Mnemonic actually is after watching the movie.
I REALLY enjoyed reading "Burning Chrome", and it's one of the few audiobooks I enjoyed as well. (guy did a REAL good job reading the story). I like the way GIbson describes how one moves about inside of the matrix, 'black ice' and stuff like that... "Neromancer" was also good, and I kinda dug "Virtual light" when it first came out. The other stuff of his that I read I also enjoyed...
Spoiler re: Johnny - in one of Gibson's other books, one of the characters mentions that Johnny's luck eventually runs out. I think they said an assassin cut his head off.
added as a friend, was hoping they had maybe a sample part of a story or soemthign on FB page.. btw, your FB pic totally gives u away :P
Which PB pic? SlimeSlug?
They'll be releasing bits and pieces, It's really better the less you know before you sit down and experience this thing. What I know about the stories, I'd say I will enjoy reading them all, and will probably REALLY enjoy at least 1/4th of them (depending how they 'end'). A few of the stories are sorta related to each other, and a few of the characters are seen in multiple stories...The Soundtrack is very cool, there are a few tracks that I think are quite good. reading the stories w/ the music will make for an interesting experience, and I wouldn't be surprised that if this project is successful, that their next endeavor would be even more interactive somehow (the soundtrack tweaked so it follows you along as you read, rising and falling w/ specific events within the story. (each ebook page would have its own ambient audio track)
Wish I was more involved w/ this project - as of now, I'm just another fan.(for now..I plan on doing some stuff during the next few months) John and Jeff are really cool, interesting people though. I hope GoZ is a success...
On Facebook, befriending them and that Synthia character, 'liking' the main 'Foreshadows' page, and sharing that "Foreshadows: video link in your FB account would REALLY be helpful (to spread the word).
Thanks again.

Since we are on the topic of Scifi, there is a book I read a while back that I can't remember the title, nor author of that falls squarely in the center of scifi/fantasy. It's set in present day United States and one day, in an instant, technology stops. Batteries lose their charge, electricity stops working, guns even stop working and at the instant when technology stops, magick becomes real, mythical creatures also come into physical existence . The book is centered around a teenage boy that loses everything at the change and is forced to survive on his own, and during his depression he is found and befriended by a Unicorn.
That's about all of it I can remember. If anyone can help me identify that book, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Maybe befriend Synthia Simulacrum (on FB) and ask her this question?
