Rediscovered this little gem sent to me by another PFFer...

After a big storm had passed, there were thousands of starfish washed up on the beach. A guy was walking along, and noticed a man throwing some of the starfish back into the water. He called out to him "Hey! There are so many starfish washed up - you'll never make a difference throwing these back in!" The guy held one starfish up and said, "It makes all the difference in the world to THIS one." He then chucked it as far as he could into the ocean, and bent down to pick up another starfish...

We usually rescue a few dozen each summer lol

One beach we were at doing some seaglass hunting last year near here had a bunch of them washed up in the rocks. Saved a bunch that day.

I don't go to the beach anymore, Chris. Is there something else I can save one or two of without too much effort?

You did not ask me but, yea. Pick up any trash you see as you coming up to a trash can, it is amazing how a few pieces of trash makes everything look more dirty. I do this a lot and sometimes it is like starting the wave in a stadium, a bunch join in and make it look intentional.

That's the attitude I always had, and always will have. In fact, that line "It makes all the difference in the world to this one" is one of my favorite quotes of all time.

------------------
Bring back civility and decorum!

It's possible to understand someone's point of view without accepting it. It's possible to disagree with someone without being rude and nasty about it. Sure it's hard, but nothing worth doing is ever easy, is it?

Ever see what a large starfish does to a bed of oysters? Makes Iraq look like a love-in.

Exactly. All the "do-gooders" are destroying the balance of nature.
