An interesting opener... as always, I am impressed with the caliber of acting this show has.
Let's see...
An Island underwater... A fountain of youth... that explains Richard... A flight attendant that becomes 'an other'... A revelation about the smoke monster... And Sayeed pulls a Lazarus. Is it really him?... or the spirit of someone else?
and An alternate time line that shows what might or did happen when Oceanic 815 reached LAX. Jack still wants to fix things, Kate continues on her criminal life, and Sawyer sizes up what kind of scam he can run next, and Sun and Jin try to make a start in America. But something is different with that timeline... Boone's sister did not make the flight, and Desmond is on it. So something happened back in Australia, I guess?
ooo, I loves me some LOST.

yes, I was confused by Boone's sister too - but I let it go as the same reason as no Anna Lucia. and, the only Clair was from old clips. yes - the Island Underwater, all grown over, made me sad. like they kicked my dog.....
I am thinking Sayeed is now Jacob, like Locke is now the "man in black" - but - just remembered - Locke is still Locke & dead, and the Man in Black is an entire other person - just looking like Locke.....

There was new Clair footage, she is in the cab that Kate jacks when escaping the airport.
So if the new man in black Locke is the smoke monster, could I also assume that whenever Jack saw his dead dad Christian, that it too was the smoke monster?

hmpf - missed that
or any other ghost - like Hurleys friends, or Kates horse
sofar - the 2 main things I am concerned about it: when Jacob said "they're coming", and the Man in Black "wants to go home" makes it pretty clear they are 'not of this earth'
and, I like how the new timeline Jack shows that feeling of familiarity with the islanders, and even ends up with interactions with most of them. once again banging Charlie back to life.

i also would like to know why Boone's sister was not on the plane. the explantion Boone gave is not good enough for me since she crashed on the island so that puts her ass on the plane.
where was Michael and Walt?
Libby? Hurley's love interest. she was part of the tail section along with Anna Lucia, since they weren't in first class maybe they didn't focus on them. i hope there will be a future episode that focus on the tail section group.
blake - thanks again for letting us come over and watch it on the big screen. seeing Kate and Juliette on it...

Right now I am counting 3 time lines that are being juggled. There is one in 2004, when the plane landed. One in the 70's where they just blew up the bomb, and are now (?), and present day.
If you notice the planes differences, Shepard was given one bottle of whiskey instead of two. He is sitting one row back from previous, as are Rose, and Bernard. I found it symbolic that Bernard came back from the bathroom after the turbulence (over the island) and Rose said "I missed you" as she did when they were reunited on the island. Hugo Says he is always Lucky. and Desmond is on the Plane, was he really there? Was he time traveling? If the island sank he wouldn't have crashed on it, BUT the island clearly shows Othertown when we float past it, so it was "there" at some point, and was not blown up with the Nuclear warhead. When did it sink? It couldn't have been too long in the past because everything is still basically intact, and the barnacles on the foot statue are just kinda there.
Is anyone notices Locke's dead body is still on the island, while the Smoke Monster is pretending to be Locke (Flock, or MIB). It seems like "they" cannot take over bodies, they just imitate them, and make other people believe that they are whomever they are imitating.
In that line of thinking I believe that Sayid is not taken over by Jacob. Remember Ben was saved in the well as well, and he is still Ben.
There were many characters missing on the plane, but they may have been there, and just not covered at this point.
It's gonna be a great season!!

yes, after I posted Sayiid maybe Jacob now - I then remembered that that doesnt fit the way Locke was taken by the Man in Black. and - yes - the little details of "the new timeline" are a puzzle. but - I small differences can be expected. being the bomb was blown in 1974. the new timeline actually starts way back there. the island being isolated, the impact will be minor - but - there was comings & goings from the island since then, which will have made some changes. now, I'm trying to remember what happened to the French Lady...what was her name? Alex's mom? she was shot last season, wasn't she? this does make room for her to come back too.
Lost is aptly named. It is complete utter nonsense. It has no continuity or direction. It is the ultimate in bait and switch and all of you will be left limp at the end of this season. I truly believe they had no idea it would be this successful and were left scrambling looking for ideas for scripts after season 1. They had no idea where to head with it at that point. The writers were "Lost".

But they assured us in season 3 that they had the ending worked out, and it would finish in season 6 no matter how well it was doing.
I find the show simply fascinating. I spend each episode going over each detail, looking for hidden meaning. This is a complete 180 from how I typically watch shows, this one I watch, enjoy, and spend the next 6 days when I have free time re-watching it and pausing, rewinding, and mentally noting what happened, This season I am changing it up a bit because I am finding it hard to recall all of the information from the past. I am surfing the LOST sites, and paying attention to what they talk about. It has led to some interesting thoughts on my end. I have probably watched each episode 4 times on average, and at least once each was a little at a time. That's really nothing compared to some people.
I'll admit that I didn't like the show initially. That has all changed since I was able to get all seasons, and watch them together. My initial problem was that I had missed key episodes. As far as I can tell the storyline has remained constant throughout. I just hope they answer some major questions by the end of the season. So far they are just adding questions.

Loads quick for me. It usually gets super-bogged down during episodes, plust everyone's still going nuts over the premiere so that is probably why.
Also, during an episode the general discussion forum is password protected (with your login of course) in case you go to browse and wonder why lol. I don't know if they do that for the other ones as I'm usually in general. I usually wait 'til after an episode anyhow before going, unless I needed to find a live stream like I did on Tuesday lol!

nope. I was a member of 2 other Lost forums tho - back in seasons 1 & 2 - but - since I could never accept magnetic forces tearing apart an airplane - yet leave the people intact never sat well with me. but - now - I do see the fact that the people probably were in fact ripped apart by the iron items on them at the time, but The Island repaired that. we've seen that more than enough time - and - the largest example of the healing being Locke. Just picture what his suitcase of knives would have done in a magnetic field strong enough to rip a plane apart. an aluminum airplane. we've seen Eko's necklace in action. why didnt that just rip thru his flesh? the cuffs on Kate. her being pulled thru the floor would have been a good cause for the plane to fall apart. along with her escorts guns.

Well, y'all keep me abreast of what the outside world (other forums) conspire about the show. I feel like y'all are family and since my family (exclude wife) doesn't watch... this is where I turn to talk to my family about this vexing series.
Speaking of vexing... what WORD was Miss Julie thinking before she bit it?

I saw that, apparently she was on the plane after all.
I haven't had any time to look at anything LOST related as I am working on getting a computer back, I didn't even get to watch the full episode last night :' (

I watched it twice in the beginning, and looked to have promise, before I realized what they were doing (It is the ultimate in bait and switch). I have real problems with "cliffhanger" shows & bandaided continuity issues.
I always think of the Annie Wilkes rant in "Misery":
Annie Wilkes: [shouting] I know that, Mr. Man! They also called them serials. I'm not stupid ya know... Anyway, my favourite was Rocketman, and once it was a no breaks chapter. The bad guy stuck him in a car on a mountain road and knocked him out and welded the door shut and tore out the brakes and started him to his death, and he woke up and tried to steer and tried to get out but the car went off a cliff before he could escape! And it crashed and burned and I was so upset and excited, and the next week, you better believe I was first in line. And they always start with the end of the last week. And there was Rocketman, trying to get out, and here comes the cliff, and just before the car went off the cliff, he jumped free! And all the kids cheered! But I didn't cheer. I stood right up and started shouting. This isn't what happened last week! Have you all got amnesia? They just cheated us! This isn't fair! HE DID'NT GET OUT OF THE **** - A - DOODIE CAR!
I decided that I would wait until the series was over, then just buy the complete DVD set. Watch it in my own time.

LOL, so far they have not changed anything when they "catch up" the previous episode. It would be a very bad deal for them if they did lol.

another past character(s) I noticed missing was Walt & Micheal. There seemed to be some key issues around Walt. obviously, being the boy is older now, they'd need some special casting to be done....

also - was kinda pissed about the numbers I was hoping for a deeper reason for them. 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, & 42 who was # 30? were Sun & Jin 15 & 16? didnt notice tho, it is nice they add to 108 - the timers at the Swan, which is also the time it takes for a standard orbit around the earth

Me too... Did the numbers have anything to do in which order Jacob "touch" them. Also, did any of the numbers have a woman's name next to it. I didn't notice at the time will have to watch that part again.

Also, I don't recall their number, but only one of them had "Kwon" after it. MIB states that he didn't know whether it was Jin or Sun (what about Ji Yeon hehe).
Probably the last 30 seconds of the last episode..........if then. Even so, it will most likely end with some lame cliff hanger to be continued in "Lost - The Motion Picture" (with several sequels already planned i'm sure).

well, there was Kwon, where it was mentioned "not sure if it is Sun or Jin"
but, I was just thinking about "Shepard" - we dont know if thats Jack or Christian, do we? well, maybe we do...Christian is dead, and the name is not scratched out. tho, he has shown up in just about every season so far....
anyways - also heard something about a Valenzetti Equation? not sure if it is a real thing, or a thing created by Lost Fans?

In this week's episode when Jack was moving the mirror to 108, he noticed his name next to the number. I assume the same from the cave who's name is next to 108? Desmond, walt, michael, etc.

and, what struck me is how his name (Shepard) was written differently from all the rest. again, making me wonder if the original #23 Shepard was his dad (or his sister, or his now existing son?)
