I was skeptical at first but some of the ads are just hilarious. One guy was asking for advice on getting engaged and it displayed ads for divorce attorneys.

P.S.- Is anyones page taking a lot longer than usual to load, or is it just my virus-infested computer?
Must be you. I'm on dialup, and if there is a difference in page load times, I can't tell it. I've been to many websites where it was excrutiatingly slow for me, just because of all the ads--not the case here.

Eh, its fine as-is. I sort of feel the right-most box is a little unnecessary. Could it bring in more money if it were another ad?
Add another ad if you need to Cliff, they are pretty unobtrusive. The current far right block is redundant, and not really necessary. I do like the analog clock though.
if I quit looking at prn, then I have to go strip bars and pay 10 bucks for a beer.............
Not gonna hapen dude..............
They had $1.50 beers last time I went. Of course it with with a vendor and we almost all got fired after the fact... I also was told I wasn't allowed to turn in my receipt. Well, I won't post the highlights, but all I can say is "wurf it".

Has the Forum gone mad? When I click on a thread, or whatever...it opens up another new page?? I ended up with 5 different pages on my screen, just from replying or simply clicking on a thread? Is it my laptop gone haywire, or the Forum??? Nick

There's really no need to unblock fiero.nl from your adblocker. I get annoyed by ads just as much as everyone else so I understand why you would want to block them. Besides, I don't get paid per "view", so if you never click on ads anyway, there's no reason to display them either.

Ok, some ads are based on views. If yours are based on actual clicks I can help you out if they look interesting. Hope the ads help.

This forum actually generate more bandwidth than your provided to even need ads?
I have no idea what you just asked.
If you were asking if the forum generates so much bandwidth that I need ads to pay for it, then the answer is "no". If you were asking if I need the ads to keep the forum up and running, then the answer is "yes". Donations and sponsor banners are just about covering the bandwidth costs. But it doesn't pay for the hardware and it most certainly doesn't pay for the hours I put in it daily. Like I said in another thread, I added ads in an effort to actually make some money with the forum. I was always against making money with the forum, but since so many other people do (make money here), it's a bit err, odd, that I don't. I mean, why is it perfectly fine for others to make a living from offering stuff to the Fiero community but not for me? I mean, I read time and time again that people are asking to buy from the Fiero vendors out (t)here (instead of buying stuff from the big auto stores) to support those providing a service to the Fiero community. Yet they take a forum like this for granted.
But again, like I said in the other thread, it's an absolute necessity. I have a choice: either try to make some money with the forum, or stop spending any time on it and spend it on projects that pay my bills and put food in my family's mouths. Maybe in a few years, when the crisis is over and the economy is blooming again and I'm being offered more projects than I can handle, I will remove the ads. Or if I see it's actually having a negative impact on the banners of the "official" sponsors, I will remove them even sooner.
Either way, right now it's still very experimental. It will take some time to see if it was even worth my effort. I will probably change the layout a few more times (like I did already) trying to find the best way to display the extra thread information together with the ads.
