FLINT, Michigan — Two juries will continue deliberation June 25 in the murder trial involving 13-year-old DonNesha Williams, who was killed by a stray bullet in August. Coriell Tyquan Branch, 17, and Reonta Deshon Hunter, 18, are on trial for first-degree murder. They face life in prison if convicted.

DonNesha was walking to a store at Carpenter Road and College Street on Aug. 17 to get a snack when a stray bullet from a driveby shooting hit her in the head. Authorities believe Branch and Hunter intended to shoot two men walking by the store.

Police said 17 shots were fired. Flint attorney Kevin Rush, who represented Branch, argued that the case was all about intent and that Branch did not intend to kill anyone. He described Branch as a “naive” boy who lived with his mother.

Hunter’s attorney, Barry A. Wolf of Flint, said the two men walking along the street are the ones to blame for DonNesha’s death, claiming their conduct caused Hunter to act out of panic and self-defense.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jennifer McKellar said Branch and Hunter were shooting to kill and that it doesn’t matter whose bullet killed DonNesha.

That is the first time I have ever heard of the self defense drive by shooting.

Someone call the NRA! I want to start using this "self defense drive by shooting" to clean out the crack houses down the street.

Yup, anyone can say anything they want.
It is left to those listening to the words spoken as to wether they believe those words or not.

Crack houses are easy to clean out....wait until they are stoned, then "generously" give them a recipie for making crack or meth, a big-big-bunch of ingredients (making sure there is lots of ether and propane in there) and walk away whistling. Give it an hour or 2, and the crack house wont be an issue anymore.

What the hell is wrong with people, they killed someone end of story. This should take 20 minutes for any competent jury to finish. That includes walking back and forth to the court room.

So they shot a gun out the window of a moving car in a city and didn't intend to hit anyone. Go figure.

Please.
Come back an hour later, there will be TWO crack houses.

The interesting thing would be to give a crackhead MORE crack then he could smoke.
I don't think it possable.
But it might break him..........

It was the gun's fault. The bullet was an innocent victim.

You missed the ether and propane part, Boonie........

What happens when one strikes a match to light a crack pipe in the general vacinity of the stuff used to make diesel motors blow up internally when the glow plug wont do it.............

I've lit a smoke around ether fumes........THAT wont ever happen again !!
