I went down a couple days ago, to our local hardware place, to buy some more fencing supplies. They are a small outfit--just 2 stores, one in this county--one in the neighboring county and they do like everyone else now, a computer generated & itemized invoice. I specifed US made barbed wire, but didn't pay any attention to the choice in fencing pliers--just grabbed a pair off the rack, but when I was filing the reciept in my farm tax box, I noticed something. I have to go back tomorrow to pick up some more tee post clips, so think I'll return the pliers and exchange them. Can you see why?

I would generally agree. I hate to buy things made in COMMUNIST CHINA!
Unfortunately do you think you will actually find these that were made elsewhere? Even our little small town hardware is forced to sell Chinese junk because their supplier cannot get anything better!
BTW: Just got a new AC Delco starter for my Trans Am. I thought: "AC Delco, gotta be made at least in Mexico." (I knew it would NOT be made in America).
WRONG. Right on the beautiful "red white and blue" box: MADE IN CHINA!
PS: My fencing pliers are 50 years old and belonged to my grandfather. I'll keep them until they break (unlikely) or I die. I also have a 40 year old pair of Craftsman vise grips that have outlived numerous newer pairs. You can just SEE the higher quality of these older USA made tools!

If Walmart printed that on every receipt for every item they sell that is made in Communist China, you'd need a wheel barrow just to haul your receipt out of the store.

We used to build our own cars in this country. I know I used to build them. We used to have jobs in this country.
All of that is gone. Join the new world order. The corporations care not about the people who live here or that own them. All they care about is profit margin, and giving the top men the money for that new mansion, new Ferrari, new 200‘ yachts.
The global economy is BS, they should call it the corporate economy. It will be the death of us all. Grow your own food. Keep plenty of guns and ammo on had because we are headed for a big bust very soon.

Ps I probably made those craftsman vise grips or at least worked for the company that made them. During a layoff from GM I worked for the company in Worcester, Mass. That made them and their saw blade. They are gone now. ------------------ Technology is great when it works, and one big pain in the ass when it doesn't. I'm an engineer for Bekaert, the co. that makes your barbed wire. Thank you for supporting me and my family!
If you ever find yourself in KY look me up. I'll take you on a tour of the Makers Mark distillery. They let you wax dip your own bottle. Cattle dogs are always welcome at my house too. :-)

Not a sports fan period. Also I'm originally from MI. Lived in Lexington for a year and now in Louisville. Never seen a state where people are as fiercely loyal to their college teams as KY, its crazy!

You need some manly posts as well, Don. You can't be burying those "wolmanized" posts. Get some male/alpha/manly/testes posts. I have them up here. They're made of limestone and weigh about 150 pounds each.

Oklahoma is like that too. I just don't get it. Best part is, most OU fans aren't even alumni.

That is friggin awesome... I didn't catch it at first... totally awesome.
John, I will pass on the limestone posts. At my age, I have to weigh the amt of time I have left against the costs and efforts, and the ~100 USA crossties will do me fine till I'm gone, as well as the wolmanized line posts--since the DAMN ENVIRONMENTALISTS fixed it so I can no longer get creosoted line posts.
Traded the $9.98 fence pliers in for some $23.35 Crescent brand pliers. They also carry Vise Grip brand, a bit higher--both stamped made in USA on the package.

Glad to help I like their wire, and have stretched lots of it--about 8 miles in the last couple of years. If I ever get to Ky, I'll take you up on that offer, but to be honest, I'd prefer to see the wire plant.

Don I use plain old cedar posts, 6” min thickness Most are a lot thicker. and so far they have lasted about 15 years and still have plenty of life left in them.
Someone recommended black locust, hell I think it was you. But may not have been.
My local saw mill said they are a tough wood and if not fresh cut may need drilling to put nails in.

1 hr 55 mins ago SALINAS, Calif. – A California couple faces child endangerment charges after police say they tried to sell their 6-month-old baby for $25 outside a Walmart store.
Salinas police spokesman, Officer Lalo Villegas, said Thursday that Patrick Fousek, 38, and Samantha Tomasini, 20, were arrested early Wednesday, hours after Fousek allegedly approached two women outside Walmart and asked if they'd like to purchase his child.
The women initially thought Fousek was joking, but when he became persistent, they became suspicious and reported it to police, Villegas said.
"They did an outstanding job and gave our officers good information. I don't know if they're mothers but they definitely had that instinct to help," Villegas said.
Fousek and Tomasini were arrested at 1 a.m. Wednesday at their home. Officers said the couple appeared high on methamphetamine and the house was in disarray. A police report also claimed that Tomasini told Child Protective Services, who took the baby, that she had breast-fed the infant while under the influence, Villegas said.
The couple was also booked on charges of being under the influence of narcotics, and Fousek was also served with an extra charge of violating probation. Villegas did not have details of Fousek's previous brush with the law.
The couple was expected to be in court for an arraignment Friday, at which time they would be assigned public defenders.

I guess they figured they were ok to do it, seeing as how people set up and sell every other kind of living thing in Walmart parking lots. What a couple of sleazeballs tho..
