So back around Christmas time (actually before), I came across a Sony Vaio PCG-Z1VAP laptop. Figured what the hell, good price and FWIW a good brand of laptop. I've looked into Vaio laptops before and always like the look, style, features, etc. Got the specs on it from the seller, its a Centrino 1.6ghz, 1gb ram, wireless B built in NIC, ATI mobility radeon at 16mb (32mb max I believe), 55gb hdd, and a 14.1 screen.

Well come to find out, it also has bluetooth built in That in my mind is a neat little feature (remember, I went from a 10 year old laptop with a P3 in it lol)

So last night I come home, and there is a big ole box sitting in the mud room (front porch for those of you non Nebrakans) from UPS...Open it up to find the laptop.

At this point, I'm sold on Vaio laptops. I will definitely buy another one in the future The battery life is awesome! Was at 85% when I turned it on out of the box, and had over 4 hours left And the weight isn't terribly unbearable either nice and light, will make a great travel laptop with a larger hdd. Leaves the HP I got coming as a desktop replacement like its supposed to be (they are friggin heavy, worked on a compaq one recently)

Still trying to figure out some of these features though Like the 2 buttons marked P1 and P2, and the magicgate reader (wtf is magicgate?)

Only gripe I have about it so far is that is 802.11B only Wish it supported 802.11G. 11Mbps kinda sucks lol. I want my 54Mbps back. And considering my router is B/G...

Guess I could always put a G card in...

Basically, it's a card reader for Sony's memory sticks. Magicgate is Sony's term for their copy protection/encryption.

im sure there are tools to get around it ( there always are ). i was just talking the 100% legit way, and that it would most likely fail.

I don't do games so don't have first hand knowledge of the 'ways around it'. Only experience i had with modern games ( last game i bought was an Atari Jaguar ) was with a xbox360 cdrom i tried to replace for a friend.. damned things are keyed to the *original* unit, even if they are OEM Microsoft replacements out of dead 360... there was some magic way to re-flash them, but ended up taking it apart and replacing the bad laser components instead.

Its shipped dude. I just got my cash back from the school. He knew I was broke until then, I flat out told him on the phone.

For the record though, this Sony was a trade for some headlights...

Dude, not to be rude or anything. But its out of my hands. I mailed it. He needs to be patient. Nothing I can do if the post office is taking forever with it. You don't have to keep posting in my threads trying to remind me that he's b*tching about not having anything.

I wasn't going to say anything, since it was only limited to one of my threads. But to bring this thread back from the dead and make a comment about it? That's kinda cold dude. Not like you are going to accomplish much by doing that now...
