Were my eyes decieving me when I just seen the previews for next Wednesday at 9pm on Mythbusters, they are going to skip a yellow Fiero across a pond?
No TV mythbusters here, but I know someone at PFF was recently (Oct-early Nov) asking people to contact a Calif company regarding selling their Fieros for a TV 'project'.

That would probably be M5 Industries, the special effects company that has made a killing on Mythbusters.

That will be interesting. I dont think Fiero belly is smooth enough, but I do know old VW bugs will. They also do it all the time with snowmobiles. We had a guy a few years ago go clear across a local lake on one.

That reminds me of the movie "speed zone". Where in the opening scene a lamborgini countach gets skipped across a lake to outrun some cops. Wonder if the car was a fiero rebody?

I'd like to think the nose on a "2m" body would make this work.
The newer 87-88 and Formula coupe body styles probably wouldn't work, and the 84 Indy, 85 GT, 86-87 SE and 86-88 GT would definitely dig right into the water line with the aero nose...

I don't think its interesting, i think its insulting and destructive. Regardless of how we feel about the car, its not like they are making more of them. At least choose a current production model so it can be replaced.
I hated the fiat x/19 episode too, for the same reasons.

Would you feel more comfortable if this particular car had been totaled during a street race? The owner attempted to do a chop top and Effed it up? Put a huge stupid wing on it?
Once they've purchased it (or taken delivery of a donation) its theirs to do as they will. In other words, its really none of your business what a private individual does with their own car, IMHO, of course...

No, its Speed Zone. Grandpa's trying to teach his grandson how to skip rocks and the grandson isn't very interested, Then a Countach goes skipping across the lake and suddenly the granson's interested.
Speed Zone was Cannonball Run 3. I first saw it when I was about 4 years old, and loved the Countach ever since
Yep, Cannon Ball Run 3, Officially named Speedzone for some reason. They made it a point to let you know it was CBR 3 during the first 1/2 hour or so. John Candy watching Cannon Ball on Television, and some other stuff. Same actors as well.
I was going to say something, but forgot about it.

I thought it was pretty cool. Yeah, I cringed a little bit. But it was still cool watching a Fiero fly.
Oh, and BTW...

NO KIDDING! Now THAT is a testament to the Fiero's crash-worthiness!

Both were surprises to me, I thought the yellow one would go tail down right away with the engine weight in rear. I couldnt believe the other made it so easily. I did note that they put a sheet of metal under the front end so it wouldnt scoop up water and nose it over too. I dont think it would have done it without the pan.
To anyones friends or family dont think Fieros are safe at least the first one should prove them wrong. An end over end flip is the most violent crash next after a head on into an immovable object. ..... yet as said already, and proved in the video........they both drove away under their own power. The 2nd one didnt even stall, still running setting in the grass.

I tend to agree its non of my business if a private individual buys it as i have zero say so, but we can still dislike what they do ( or dont do ).
But this is a different situation, as its for TV show, something that lives and dies by what people think of what they are doing.
How deep was the pond? 3 feet At what speed did they enter the water? first time 50 mph Fastback second time 100 mph Notchy Human driver or remotely controlled? remote controlled How long was the pond? 100 feet
