OK..so I am a killjoy but...can somebody explain to me why it is perfectly acceptable, funny, laughable, 'way to go guy' to get totally drunk and post about it, and yet the guy who took more than the 'recommended' dose of R.tussin gets slaughtered? I don't agree with either, obviously...but these double-standards are worrying . OK Flame-suit dug out of the wardrobe, and I guess I have a few ' greens' to sacrifice

No worries Nick, one is staying at home, and not causing any harm to anyone.
The other decided to drive around and then (in his own way) blamed everyone but himself when he got in trouble. He put other peoples lives at risk, and his own doing what he did.
There is no double standard, they are two different circumstances.
Brad
Also edited to add: One is perfectly legal, and the other is actually against the law.

That's as may be, Brad...but the underlying truth is not so acceptable in my OWN experience, out of 26 of my peers who have died early deaths, 20 of those early deaths were directly linked or attributable to alcohol. 2 to 'recreational' drugs.4 to cancer. Those who died of cancer smoked cigarettes and drank alcohol consistently throughout there lives.Every person I know who drinks excessively, comes from a family with a history of alcohol misuse. MOST of the teetotallers I know either came from alcohol-free families...or from families WITH a history of tragic alcohol misuse. None that I know of have died from drinking stupid amounts of cough medicine. But....maybe that is because of the friends I keep Children are WATCHING..all the time Nick

Ya know what? Do what you want, when you want as long as you're not harming anyone but yourself, I don't care (well, I do, but for the sake of this argument, I don't). If you're going to get teetotally **** -faced drunk, do it in your home or get a D/D and if your at home, get online and make a fool out of yourself so we can laugh at you (if you're old enough to drink). If your gonna get high, do it in your own home or somewhere that you can stay for a day or 2, or get a D/D, if you're at home don't get online and make a fool out of yourself because chances are, what you're doing is illegal.
yep!! I'd go along with your sentiments 100% too. Providing you sign a legal document agreeing to rescind all rights to medical treatment, transport from your home to hospital, fire-fighting services when you accidentally set fire to your bed/settee/carpet when you drop that cigarette-end/fall downstairs/beat up your wife/partner/children, etc etc etc. Just because it is LEGAL, doesn't necessarily make it alright

Nick fear not I, the wife, kids, dog, and the house have made it. No need for a fireproof bomb shelter with little to no R.tussin available while being supervised by people in white coats ( although there are those who say that I should possibly be. )
The kids were fast asleep upstairs tucked snugly into their beds, the forced air heating unit ( which was professionally inspected 3 months ago being called a "work horse" ) was set at a cozy 72*, while the car was parked squarely in the garage. Which by the way is detached from the house requiring a walk outside through the cold which was not going to happen, & the pantry was stocked with Cheesy-poofs. My health insurance premiums have been fully funded for the month of November and December so we're good there too.
I have no history in the family of alcohol abuse, although I do admit that from time to time I will indulge in a bit as its legal, and I work dam hard for that to which I can scrape together. This and this alone is the reason but yet requires no reason for me to do that to which is legal and properly prepared for. But, I will admit that I did run out of ranch beer nuts which was a bummer. Tearing out of the house in search for more was never a thought, as I have found a new friend in Sun Dried Tomato Triscuits & garden dip.
Tell ya what - I'll PM ya for a permission slip next time I decide to partake in a bit of excess - only to realize that I cant type because I will be in a protective bubble, making it impossible to do anything.
And Cliff - Wow...just wow
