I am a friend of Gecko's and asked me to forward this message to his friends on this site.
"Gecko is in jail and needs help. I am in jail for a non-violent, non-drug issue with $500 bail needed. If anyone can help bail me out it can be paid over the phone with a credit card. People can also send me money orders (no cash or checks), letters, books (paperback only and only sent from Amazon or other book store). I can also make collect calls. "
His address is as follows:
John Hegedus D-76389, S-7 Bergen County Jail 160 S. River Street Hackensack, NJ 07601
He would very much appreciate anything you can do to help him.
Only thing I could find regarding that name and new jersey recently:
quote
The Garfield Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor`s Office in New Jersey filed criminal charges against John Hegedus for allegedly selling pirated Rosetta Stone software. Hegedus was arrested on June 24 and August 19 and is charged with violations of the New Jersey Anti-Piracy Act and the Trademark Counterfeiting Act, both of which are punishable by three to five years in jail.
I went here http://168.229.183.33/inmatelookup and looked him up by name. According to the records his bail was revoked. Looks like the new charge caused him to violate his probation? Usually when you violate probation you either get no bail or a very high one. Someone want to clarify?

...and don't commit more crimes while you're on probation from a previous crime.....
Looks like he's been in jail since August 24th. Ran out of other people to beg from and turned to PFF now?
That reminds me, has "Greasemonkey" started serving time for his child molestation conviction yet?

I don't think so. He was just in the Tech section the other day posting about a LPG conversion for his Fiero. I didn't realize he was the OP and had posted a response on the thread. When I went back to review it, it made my stomach churn when I noticed he started the topic.
Here I thought he was having family store his Fiero for his jail time...

I am confused... the court website states "no bail set/bail revoked" So why would anyone send bail money?
I do not know him or his situation... I am not even sure about the depth or severity of the charges, but the burning question in my mind is why don't other friends that know him personally or family members help bail him out? If they do not want to "risk" their money on him... why should anyone here?

Excellent question, especially considering that according to the Bergen County jail records he's been locked up for over 2 months now....

I would really like to help, if I knew I would (eventually) get the money back. Things are very tight right now... Not sure what his family/personal situation is,don't recall him being anything but good (on here, at least)
Look, I've got nothing against him and I wish him luck, but, that said, if a guy blows his probation, anybody signing for him stands a good chance of losing the deposit and the bond. This is the place for a family member and a professional bail bondsman, not some well meaning forum members. I am surprised this request is even here, and I do wish him luck regardless.

I've got nothing against Gecko either, but if anyone here is stupid enough to help with bail, then don't expect to see your money again. He's not just in jail for a mistake, he's in jail for going against his probation. His actions tell me he is irresponsible.
If i remember right gecko seemed to always have money problems.
Its pritty shitty to come on this forum asking for bail money when gecko has not even been around to earn the friendship of others let alone get anything from us.

Who the **** are you? I've met Gecko, and he definately earned my friendship for what it is worth. Have you? I don't recall him ever asking for a thing before this. While I don't have money for bail, I don't think it is too much to ask to send a couple bucks to put in his canteen account. Come on, it's Christmas.
Hmm. I sent im a little 'help' some time ago, when he posted that his 'home' was I think,on his grandmother's couch, and they had no money for food, or gas, or whatever. Strange thing is, he asked me to send it via Amazon.com that time too. Very strange Nick

wow, i take back what i said, i just looked him up... this post might have beenmade beore his bail was revoked. Poor guy, if he was on probation for a felony and he caught a new felony, in the state of florida that means prison (unless you live in lawless miami).
Poor guy, hope he gets county time at worst, prison is dangerous crappy, and there is no A/C nor heater in most of them

I didnt mean to come off like a ass, Im sorry.
I have no problem with gecko i have sent him stuff in the past. I just never see him on here anymore, I know cause he has no fiero and nor do i, So he hangs in OT as far as i can tell.
I meant its shitty for his friend to ask for money and not even tell us why he is in the slammer? For all we know he could of been another greesmonkie. And as for the friendship thing? Maybe i should have worded it different. I would be more apt to send YOU money since i see you around this forum a hell of a lot more then gecko.
Sorry you took it wrong.

Pirated Rosetta Stone??? Shoulda advertised on the forum, I've been looking for one to learn Greek. I'd say its the Rosetta company's fault, if the stuff wasn't so dang expensive!

Don't take this wrong, as he may be a good guy, (but i don't know him personally ) but if you are already on probation, you know the risks upfront if you continue to break the law. If hes innocent and was keeping his nose clean, then of course its wrong to be sent up the creek. We all deserve a 2nd chance, that's what probation is for.
We have heat in our prison system since it gets cold here, but prison isn't supposed to be fun ya know.
This is also the first time i have EVER heard of anyone getting time for selling a copy or two of pirated software on the side. Times have sure changed.
