If you don't know, I signed up for the Marines back in June, and I'm waiting to leave for boot camp right now.
But this past Sunday, the Marines sponsored the Bengals and Texans football game at Paul Brown Stadium
( I'm a Bengals fan, even though they lost!, so this was super awesome for me ). So the Commanding Officer
and all the other high ranking Officers and enlisted got us in to the stadium for free, we got to watch the game,
and then at halftime we all marched out onto the field and did a mass swear in, in front of the 60,000 people
that were at the game. It was quite possibly one of the coolest things I've ever done in my life! I was even caught
on camera on the Jumbo-tron at the game, and later on the local Fox station aired a story on it and I was on TV!
http://fox.daytonsnewssourc.../wrgt_vid_2988.shtmlAfter they show the Marines in their dress blues in the beginning, I'm the one they cut to afterwards, I've got the
facial hair, and the tall red-headed kid standing behind me. Listening to 60,000 people cheering and screaming,
especially when they all started chanting "USA, USA, USA!" was the most amazing feeling in the world. When we
were running off the field and out in the stadium walkways ( we ran a lap ), everyone was cheering for us, sticking
their hands out for us to smack as we ran past, people thanking us. I haven't even made it through boot yet, but
having all these strangers being so supportive and thankful for what we have all decided to do, was nothing short
of amazing. It really has brought my faith in humanity up, and it really has made me proud to have made the decision
for signing up for the military, and signing up for the Marines. Thanks to everyone who supports us, its truly appreciated.
And on top of all this, it is my birthday today! Thank you to everyone who made this the best birthday I've ever had!
