no locks? I know they're not perfect, but at 1200 apiece, I'd have 5 different lock types of different outer diameters to deter thievery.

I donno man. I could never do that. I can not take anything the does not belong to me. Let alone something so personal as someone car. I am glad you have turned your life around, but I cant understand how someone could go down the road in the first place. I just don't think I could ever get over the guilt.

You have to have guilt to get over. I would say guilt is on short supply for the people who do this kind of stuff.

Interesting point. I guess I just feel the guilt is something that is pre-programed into us as humans, but apparently not.

I think that the worst part is knowing the funky policy Nissan has about the GTR.. It probably voided the warranty. -.-

If you don't mind me asking were drugs involved in your life? Or was it just a lack of respect for your fellow man?

Coming from a working family that just barely got by. I understood how much it took for someone to be able buy the things they want. Although I could be jealous at times, I never wanted to take something they earned.

wouldn't matter if someone was ready for them, I forget what they are called... kind of like an easy out but its a socket for rounded off nuts/bolts etc.. used it on a car I had before that I didn't have the key for.

locks are soo easy to get rid off. Just take a 12 point that barely fits and beat it a lil bit. I always keep a couple craftsman 12 points in a couple sizes for doing just that when a car come in and the owner doesnt know where the key is. But he didnt have locks. Mommy and Daddy bought it for him so he doesnt care. He just lives and enjoys life. But in the past 3 months he has opened a performance shop and actually does work. He does know his stuff and one of the few people I would trust working on my car. Unfortuneatly he has zero common sense because he was sheltered so much when he was younger. He trusts people way to much.

Delorean no drugs, just lack of money and that was the only way me and the crowd i was hanging with knew how to get it. We loved cars, i guess a little too much. A prison sentence and a lot of church afterwards changed me in 1999.

Have not since done anything of the sort, hope i have not lost the boards respect by sharing my story but the truth is the truth.

I know more than my fair share of guys living in the slum neighborhoods who do it for a way to live. I also know some who do it just because they can. Either way, there's a way out without getting wrapped up in it to begin with - I did. But no, you've lost no respect from me. The important part is recognizing your errors and doing what you need to do in order to change your life in a positive way.

Ahh, yeah, I've used those kind to. I have used those before when I was employed at a machine shop.

I respect you. I am sure the rest of the board does as well. Its just this is kinda of a touchy subject on a car forum.

I believe people can change, it does happen. But it takes a strong will and lots of work. Looks like you have done that.

Personally, I have had my car broken into many times.

I have had a car stolen and torched. This happened the day after Christmas, and a week after my girlfriend almost died in a horse riding accident. I was taking care of her at the time. That car was the only thing I had, and the only way I could take my girlfriend to doctor appointments.

So I think you can see the reason I have no respect for people who do these things. They never consider how they are effecting the people they do this to.

Thank you, and Delorean that is truly a tragic story. I hope i never hurt anyone the way you have been hurt. I thank god every day for giving me a second chance, i thank him for having a beautiful wife, two beautiful kids, a good job and now my Fiero.

To be honest i am haunted by my dreams at night of my past, maybe i dream it to remember what kind of hell i came from/ out of.

My car was stolen from the same punks that i used to run with, they did it out of spite after i quit. I have only had a car broken into once that i can remember.

The point is we all come from different backgrounds and are all joined together by the love of our little 2 seaters. This is what america is all about, people of different races and backgrounds coming together for a common goal.

Thank you all for hearing me out and my thoughts and heart go out to each and every one of you.

You sound like a very solid person these days. Have you ever considered counseling troubled youths? Its always good for kids to hear how the path they are on can turn out, and that there is more out there then crime.

I'm sure I came off as very jaded. And to be honest I am. But its not directed at you, it directed at the people who live this life style.

Treat people the way you want to be treated, period. (it really helps you sleep at night).

-Chris

If that were me, and I ever caught who did it, those would be the most expensive rims they ever stole. They would be selling their lives for them.

A GTR rolled over a few blocks away from a 100+ car carshow here in michigan that I went to last week.

Was pretty fail.. some rich kid had it and just totaled it on a 25mph park road.

I have no idea how you would roll this car. He regularly corners at .98 to 1.0 G's. There is a G-meter in the car. He has been through about 4 sets of tires already and he has only had it since begining of last winter.

quick turn and catching the lip of the road or curb... doesn't take much to roll a car if you stop the wheel from sliding.

True. But this car has a complete onboard babysitter. Unless he had launch control on. Which is really dumb. But paying over 80k on a nissan isnt the brightest thing to do anyway.

If they were smart theives they should have taken the brakes too. They are wirth a mint themselves.

It's going to be hard to flip a set of GTR rims after that pic has been all over the internet.

Guilt is relative...

But i agree with the other posts above: No locks?!!? Sure you can get around them with a nut splitter, but it slows them way down and they might get caught 1/2 thru.

I doubt it will be that hard. 1 - not everyone looks at everything on the 'net.. 2 - some don't care if they are stolen anyway "hey, they are cheap, i don't want to know where they came from"..

Are they serialized?

I can assure you of one thing... the people who stole these rims... they voted for Obama in the last election.
