I saw this on another fourm and had to post it here.

What kind of drivers does your state have. Dont be scared its ok to admit it.
and this is no offence to anyone on here.

So far I have to say PA has very angry drivers. You say speed limit they reply whats that.
Except for main line drivers that 1st should have a drivers test 2nd have a test to see if they have the brain power to drive a car.

Ill let someone else speek for jersey.

That's me...if you aren't doing 75 stay the **** out of the left lane, merge ramp means MERGE not accelerate from a stop, and for the love of God if trucks are passing you (and slowing me down) you need to reconsider your speed on the highway.

I usually just get irritated on the highways, I don't drive fast around town because there is no point speeding in a 35 zone 100 yards to the next light.

Haha very well put. I do push the speed limit a little on the highways but i try not to do more than 10 MPH over or 15 MPH over on the turn pike.

Here in Missouri we have irate road ragers in the metro parts, we have granny/granpa fuddy fuds everywhere.. then you have the teenagers whod rive 2x the speed limit and run people over, flip cars and get them impounded for street racing. The middle aged working folks footing the bills and paying all the taxes have to weave in and out of all of this crap just to get to and from work daily while trying dodge large animals and not get bit by brown recluse spiders.

Every once in a great while, I see a chimp driving...or maybe it was a lemur? Anyway, and other times I legitimately see dogs driving. For the most part though, they're usually people.

in southern california it is always a battle on the roads. people cut each other off just to get to the red light faster. people speed on the freeways.
i think it makes you a better driver i love cutting people off. its like a race i guess. i always want to win.

I think we have alot of overly defensive drivers here. Some are even tooscared to merge properly onto the freeway.

Drivers in any state can vary. City drivers and country drivers as an example. You also have professional drivers, constant drivers, and dumbazzes who should not have a license to begin with.
All in all, Texas has good, courteous, and friendly drivers.

I'm in the "Blue Hair" state (FL). I actually don't see too many of them driving.
Most people like to drive above the speed limit here. Most highways have a 65 MPH limit and the turnpike has a 70 MPH limit, most other city roads are 45 MPH. Most highways in CT still have a 55 MPH limit and city roads are 30 MPH.
There isn't as much rubber necking happening here as there was in CT. A person changing a tire would cause a two mile backup because there of the rubber neckers. Here the traffic actually moves, normal driving speed on the highway is around 70 MPH and 80 MPH on the turnpike. People like to complain about the traffic here, but they haven't been in a real traffic jam like the ones they get in the North East. I actually can use my cruise control on the highways here. There were too many cars on the road in CT to do this safely or for any kind of extended period of time.
The drivers down here a bit braver too. I noticed that not too many stop and pull off the highway during a blinding rain storm. I don't pull over myself, as long as I can see the car in front of me and the road lines.
In CT people would pull over in droves during any kind of rain fall.
I have noticed more drunk drivers on the roads here at night. Most seem to be from out of state. Damn tourist.

avengador1--Drive 230 miles or so south to Miami and you will change your mind about Florida drivers.
I have lived in Miami for 40 years so I know what I am talking about when I say that the drivers here are just plain STUPID.
Drive the expressways or interstates and sit in bumper to bumper traffic because someone is changing a tire or just stopped on the side of the road.
When it rains in Miami, the speed is maintained or slightly increased.
According to the insurance company's, 52% of the drivers in Miami do not have car insurance so most of these drivers drive with a "I don't care attitude".
As for drunk drivers, morning, noon or night, it's all the same.
Don't get me started on all of the out of town drivers from all over the world but mostly from the South American countries.
Different driving rules from all over the world means different drivers on the same roads.

EDIT---to say that I am talking about MIAMI only.
When I drive to Orlando to the attractions it is quite different

As far as I'm concerned, Miami is a different country when compared to Orlando. Lucky for those of us up further up North, in the state, there is a big distance (and swamp) that separates us from Miami.

I live in Western VA. During the school year, traffic can be a pain due to the amount of people from not-in-VA driving around. During the summer, its swell. Not too much traffic, and most of that traffic is accustomed to driving in this region.

I slow down slightly out of state because I become a target because of my out of state plates (especially in commie states like PRNJ and PRMD). That means I do 70-75 instead of 80-85 in a 65 zone. Those people doing 40 aren't me!

I drive to downtown Atlanta, five days a week.
Our company has a lot of folks who visit from Birmingham or other parts of Alabama.
As a courtesy, I always tell them that "We can't drive. But that doesn't stop us from doing it at 80 MPH." And that's in a 55.

You have got to go at least 10 over, even on surface streets, or you'll have people crowding your bumper. It's pretty much expected.
People don't frequenty use turn signals when they're trying to change lanes, because others consider it a challenge.
"Oh hell no. You're not getting in my lane." And so it goes.

There was a study done a year or two ago that listed our traffic congestion second in the country, right behind Los Angeles, IIRC.
Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Ask John Stricker. He was here a couple of months ago. Hit the worst traffic in the city, at the worst possible hour.
Took him (IIRC) over an hour to go about 10 miles.
I wasn't surprised. But he does have my sympathy.

I'm Wisconsin and here we have very good drivers (for the most part). We also pride ourselves on the ability to identify drivers from Illinois and Minnesota: Illinois drivers are always speeding and in the left or rarely the middle lane. Minnesota drivers a re just as fast, but there good fast drivers; they stay in the right lane and don't tailgate and all the other bad driver stuff.

P.S. This doesn't include Milwaukee.

The worst drivers are in Reno/Sparks, Nevada.

Half are drunk and half are from California. There is some overlap.

Colorado has good drivers. Inclimate weather has honed their driving skills. The worst drivers I've ever encountered were in Tucson Arizona. Old snow birds with cataract's and hearing aides. they literally will run you into a ditch to get to Hometown Buffet. LOL

I've noticed in NC that driver's ed must be the hardest class. I grew up in NH and drivers here just don't really seem to have a clue. If you're in the left lane and NOT passing someone, YOU"RE IN THE WRONG LANE!!! That drives me nuts! I have a 35 minute drive to work @ 75 mph in a 65. Nobody here looks in the mirror for traffic coming up from behind. Ever. And, as posted above, if you're being passed by semi trucks, you should re-evaluate your speed or get off the highway, or use your hazard flashers.
That's my 2 cents. I gave up on complaining about turn signals. Nobody uses them here anyway.

Depends on if you are talking about the states average drivers or,

Me.

Me I am courteous most times.

As are most of our drivers here.

But then when I go to other states I put on my Boston drivers hat and drive like there is a bomb about to go off and I am going to get out alive.

I ran into a few of those Southern drivers in TN.

They scare me, I love when they see that sign just before a bridge that says,

“Bridge freezes before roadway”

First thing they do is hit the brake.

I moved to Ohio from Erie Pennsylvania in 2000.

A good friend of mine told me about the new inspection law Ohio had implemented for drivers moving in from out-of-state.

First thing they do is see if you have a turn signal stalk.
If you do they take a pair of bolt cutters and cut that stalk right out of there.

Just kidding of course, but Ohio drivers do not believe in turn signals and in the major cities you have to 10% that just have no clue, cut across 4 lanes at a time without looking etc.

this has much more to do with whether or not you do most of your driving within urban sprawl or not. within urban sprawl areas, you normally have undersized roads. this quicky exasperates many drivers.

another quick & easy way to know about the drivers in a particular area is to look at the traffic lights. the more dummy proof they are - the dumber the drivers of that area are. traffic lights are "stepped up" based on traffic accidents at that intersection.

I think you meant to say faster traffic in the left. Most people end up going over the speed limit (speeding) in the left lane, but speeding it isn't a requirement that I'm aware of.

Since this is a military town it is not a pretty sight around here. Everyone brings their own unwritten rules from across the country. Makes for a mess sometimes. I do notice that most of the rude a-hole drivers have New York license plates. That's not a joke nor a flame, just an observation.

1. Minnesota Drivers = Passive aggressive drivers. Lots of them.
2. Minnesota Drivers = Every year the same thing over again> it snows > nobody remembers how to drive in it.

Yea. It is very true. I hate living here. Drivers are pricks. Worst is NYC and western upstate where I live. If you use your turn signal dont plan on bein able to get over. Everyone races to the red light. And most of the cars are garbage and owners are retards and so they are neglected and **** is always flying off the cars. And what sucks is ya gotta drive like them to get anywhere so its a endless cycle.
