Any ideas? It's not that I plan on smoking till I die, I'm just tired of losing them and not caring.

I don't particularly like the "flip top" ones. I've had one, it opened in my backpack and drained all the fuel

Get a Zippo BLU.
It's a butane version of the classic Zippo. And you can't beat their lifetime warranty if you want a lighter to last you the rest of your life.
I've got 2 Zippos that I've had for 17 years and they still work just as good as when new.

On the traditional Zippo, if it leaked, you probably had it overfilled. The wadding should hold the fluid even with the lighter open - it shouldn't be so full it's dripping wet.

Irony at its very best. A cigarette lighter company giving "lifetime" warranties
I suppose they know it wont be a full life.

I have a zippo I could sell you. If I recall, the fluid is soaked into what looks like cotton or something, so I don't know how yours leaked... maybe it was over filled?

Not leaked as in poured out, I mean the top opened and it all evaporated. Plus I'm not much of a fan of the flip top ones.

Buy a very expensive one. That way you won't let it out of your sight. This works with pens and sun glasses as well.

They'll dry out over time even with the top closed. Lighter fluid evaporates, eventually. It would only drip liquid out if it's overfilled, though.

If you don't want a flip top and you don't like wick style lighters, get one of these. No fluid. No flame. No flip top. And you won't lose it.
There are tons of designs out there but most quality lighters have some sort of top covering the burner/wick, etc. Try a Jet Flame lighter if you want something new and cool.

But again, it's got a top on it.

Or you could stick to wooden matches and just tell everyone you only use them because you're a connoisseur.

I bought a 'jet' one, and it seems very very solid. 6 bucks, Gunmetal. Forget the brand. I'll look at it later. Don't use it much. Don't smoke. But it's nice.

I also have a Giger Zippo. rarely use that one. Yummy, though...

I was gonna say camp out next to President Kennedy's Eternal Flame; bet that will never go out. Bad taste I know, but what the hell. But I do like that one, very classy and gentlemanish like. I still got one my great-grandfather made from an old bullet casing during WW2. Never fails to light, no matter what the conditions.

You should have gotten one of these.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Black-C...3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50

It holds your cigarettes and is a lighter, definately won't lose that.

Just get a plain jane regular old wick Zippo.
It's simple and reliable and basically can't break - it's too simple.
And, it's lifetime guaranteed.

Those butane torches with piezo-electric ignition are nifty, but IMO nothing beats a Zippo.
