Iowa Department of Natural Resourses usualy requires that Ice-fishing / Ice-fishing shacks, be off of Iowa lakes by February 20th.
Today they extended the season till March 1st. Yesterday the low was -13 degrees, so I think they have things covered.
I haven't seen any media reports concerning Al Gore for a couple of months now, I hope he's OK?

I imagine Al is sitting on a nice sunny beach someplace.

On a slightly different topic, I think I'm starting to get cabin fever. Its been a long, cold, wet winter. Right now its 20 degrees with a fine mist coming down. I work nights so all I see is dark. On the few days that have been warmer i spend with my kids on the swing set. No fiero or mustang work getting done. Even if I had the time/space/motivation I don't have the money I used to. My wife came home crying last week because she hates her job so bad. We can't make it on one income. I hate my job too. I find myself getting "pissy" with conversations here and in the real world. I wish it was June and 78 degrees. I could be at the lake fishing or riding the golf cart with my kids. But its not June, its February, its cold, wet and dark.

This is my winter of discontent.

some of it may be light deprivation. go buy a grow-light bulb for the lamp you sit under the most. it may improve your mood.

Yep, that global warming thing lasted just long enough to get Mr. Gore his Nobel Prize.
Did he ever get the recognition he deserves for inventing the internet?

Global warming my ass, it was -9 F when I got up this morning. We have had like 9’ of snow this season so far and I have no place to put anymore.

And we have more predicted for tonight. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Believe it or not, the term 'global' encompasses more than just the northern half of the USA and Canada.
Its 85F here, today.

lol - yup yup
but, there are many who think "global warming" is: they will wake up one day, and the sky's will be red & dust blowing everywhere, and picked clean skeletons lining the streets, and its suddenly 150*

fear not - global warming is in fact happening, as it has before, as it will again. and few - if any - will be affected. I know the "nature" shows are frighteneing everybody with huricanes & floods - but - are you in the flood zone? doubt it. and the huricanes - BAH - they dont mention there is also a possibility that they will be LESS damaging. obviously it is always wise to think about worst case scenarios. but - these are worst case. how about some more likely - and in fact good outcomes? middle east uninhabitable. finally have peace in the middle east.
