Far too expensive, anyone with a brain will buy an Elise instead of that thing. If it were closer to $20k it would have a decent chance, at least. Mexican labor isn't as cheap as it used to be, and hopefully chinese labor follows suit (though I doubt it as long as the communists are in power).

When all your stuff gets more expensive you'll regret that wish

I've seen some weird cars in Mexico. When I lived there in the early '70s there was a shop that was stretching and widening Volkswagen Beetles to style them to look like a Porsche Carrera. They were pretty wild looking and were even fast.

Well they are only making 150 units a year, thats why its $55,000 if they made more like a thousand a year, after a few years or so they could probably drop down into the $30,000 bracket, maybe $20,000. If it was a mid $20,000 car I'd be all over that as my next car, I love my Fieros but wouldn't mind something more modern for the day to day.

here are some of those, built in a vw chasis this kits cost US$1,500 for you to build them.
Looks like they ran out of money or ideas and just chopped the back end off square. Never was a big fan of that look. Or the single exhaust.
But, I have long wondered why a nation with so many skilled workers, & such a large amt of natural resources--didn't become a major auto manufactorer. With a relatively inexpensive, quality vehicle line, Mexico could corner the North American market and undercut the heck out of Asian and European imports, due to the close proximity to the end market.

One word, governmentcorruption . Counts as one word right?
When I lived in Mexico, Ford and GM had big factories right in the city. I bet there are even more manufacturers there now, but I bet they only make parts or components, not entire vehicles.
I was going to say.. seems as if all their cars are late model VW bug based. So I'd pretty much guess the same with the one at the top. Side glass, windshield, and A pillars all look about the same. That could explain the lack of serious HP. Kinda cool but too many other Exotic ""kit"" cars out there now to pick from. like the GTM supercar
