Yeah. Last I counted she was somewhere around 85 or so.
Sorry for the loss. I know how loosing a pet can be
85 is still a good run for a small turtle. Some of the sea turtles go 100+
My Doberman passed this year at the age of 14. The vet said 14 was almost unheard of for a Dobie. She was somewhere around 110 human years old (Doberman scale). Cancer got her in the end.
They are waiting at the rainbow bridge

No, I found her on a golf course in '85.

we're sentimental old fools. weve got 3 dogs, ranging in age from 13 to 15. one of the 13 yr olds is 110 lbs, and is supposed to last only 7 or 8 years. we also have 5 cats, 2 of them 14 yr olds.
all of our animals are rescues, from the side of the road, or the pound, or just found their way to our door. one of them was due to be euthanized the day after we got her, and another was found by the side of the road with a broken leg as a snow storm was blowing in.
we've given them many good years of full bellies and a warm dry place to sleep. and in return they've given us security, companionship and lessons in faithfulness and loyalty. i'll be heartbroken when they go.
worth it? you bet. the streets and pounds are full of lost critters looking for places to live and people to care for, and we'll be there for them.
She was found on a golf course, so she shall be returned to a golf course. Iggy was laid to rest a short time ago in my back yard which is on a golf course. I've always wondered what made me buy the concrete turtle bench. Now I know. Pleasant journies my friend.

Thanks everyone. I know she's in a better place now with plenty of screen doors to climb, brick fireplaces to chat with, and all the little chocolate chip cookies she can eat. I've got her aquarium all cleaned up and spotless. Food and water in it as well as her picture taped to the inside. I think I'll keep it that way for a little while. Twenty-two years is a long time.

Sorry to hear about your loss, I would have sent you the turtle that I found a month ago, but it was really upset about being removed from it's home, and I would be afraid that it would take its agression out on you...lol.... I just relocated it to the creek behind the office at work. I'm sure that just like my turtle, yours is in a better place now.
Thanks. But I think I'll lay off turtles for a while. I've had aquatic turtle before. None of them survived. Iggy's been with me through thick and thin. Maybe one day.

So sorry to hear about your turtle... 22 years is a long time, my cat is 22 years old... and that's old for a cat... don't know how much longer she'll be with us, but I'm glad she still is...
I think that's a good idea keeping her tank with her picture in it... a very nice memorial...
I feel your pain. I am deeply sorry for your loss. If it were up to me, I would turn the clock back a week. That way you and I both could have our little ones back. Wow.. 85 years huh? She had a long and good life. I am sure she is up there right now with Bandit, helping him torment a cat
I know I am feeling emotionally 'overawed' just lately, but that brought tears to my eyes.I hope the good memories will sustain you as much as possible at this tough time..God Bless Nick and Ellie

The stuffed turtles on top have actually always been there. One was a gift and the other three were won in claw machines. Other than her not being there and the picture being there instead, the aquarium hasn't changed.

Yeah, I knew what you meant. Still at that stage where I walk past expecting to see her there. She wasn't the kind of pet that would meet you at the door or lay at your feet while you were watching TV. But she became a permanent fixture, my responsibility, for twenty-two years. I feel like I let her down somehow. But I'll get over it.
