Has anyone seen the Celtic Woman special on PBS? The latest one (Celtic Woman: A new Journey) has six Irish women (five vocals and an awesome fiddler) in concert at an Irish castle. get goosebumps listening to them.

It was on up here last weekend. Can't see shelling out $250 for the DVD though.
Hot Chicks, tight harmonies, what's more to want. I got more than goosebumps watching them.
Too bad I was watching on a 13" TV.

I agree. Good stuff
Check amazon for the DVD's. I bought one for my sister for Christmas. The "A New Journey" one is $14

Saw them live in August (I think), what you see on T.V. can't even compare to a live performance. Catch them live if you can. Definately one of my all time favorite concerts.

I REALLY wanted to like that show. REALLY.
I looked forward to it all week.
I'm a big fan of Celtic music.
Boy was I disappointed.
It seemed to me like lots of fancy costumes, overuse of the orchestra, and jumping around to distract the audience from the mediocre material IMO.
Kinda like a Celtic ABBA, if you ask me.
There is better music out there in this genre. Trust me.
Here is a good place to start: http://www.npr.org/programs/thistle/

I kind liked these folks.

The Corrs Official Website
I haven't heard much of them lately, the 2 first Albums were pretty tasty.
Anybody have recomendations on any good 'Bagpipe' albums?
Ok, maybe that was the wrong thing to say.
But you know what I mean.

I felt the same way. I saw a little of the show on PBS and saw them live. The show wasn't that interesting and it could have been on the radio and enjoyed it as much.
The Thistle and Shamrock show is one of my favs, second only to Car Talk. Hearts of Space is another good one.
Clannad is one of my favorite Celtic groups.
Haven't listened to bagpipes in a while so I can't help you there.

i second (third) the earlier comments. the show was pleasant enough, but about as "celtic" as a cheap blanket with a knotwork design. thistle and shamrock is totally the place to go, though i do wish she'd play more welsh traditional music.

clannad is also really beautiful, but really almost an independent genre, as opposed to "celtic music."

and while i do have a corrs album, i much prefer wolfstone as an example of pop/rock-oriented modern celtic music.
