I just thought of something. I remember back with Win98 that the actual key code was printer on the general tab of my computer properties. It wasn't encoded like it is in XP. I think XP is the first edition to encode the key code.You should be able to just right click on my computer go to Properties and there should be a 25 digit code there.
the code and the registration # is not the same....... unless I am missing something.....

Well, if it's a bogus code that microsoft encripted then it will show a series of numbers with OEM stuck in the middle. A valid code is 5 sets of 5 numbers and letters.

me too I bet I have twenty win98 discs laying around, and a few 95 discs as well. I only had the one ME disc but I hated winME and only had that installed for a couple months before I bought XP pro.
