I've seen threads of several Porsche owners, and was curious if anyone here knows anything about 1981 924's. I'm looking at buying one but the owner says it has an issue with either the "fuel injection rods" or the "accessory fuel pump"

I have never heard of a "fuel injection rod" is that a real part or could he mean the fuel rails? I could find no reference to fuel injection rods on google.

It does run but doesn' t stay running due to whatever the problem is/ He say's he was told its a $1500 fix, any ideas on what the problem is?

I just may have to join a Porsche forum.

Isnt the 924 the one with the VW engine? Might make finding parts a touch easier, if you can find out what will cross over.
Outside of that, I know pretty well nothing about them. They're neat looking though.

earl;y 924 uses an AUDI 4 fairly gutless 2.0 95 HP motor

late 924S 87 and after is the 944 porsche motor

try here for USED parts
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=19
you should get a good FI setup for a 924 for around a hundred bucks
ck for bad grounds , filter and clogged cat first

Around here they are worth about that or less in good running order, I would pass! not one of their finer moments from an otherwise great car maker.

If you can find a 924S, or a 944 N/A, you'll be miles ahead. OTOH, if you're dead set on a 924, as someone pointed out, the VW engine parts are, or at least should be, cheaper.

Thanks for all the info, I was actually looking for a 944 when I came across this one. Perhaps I'll keep looking then.

I do work on a lot of Porsches and I agree the S model is the only one worth looking at. 944 is a much better car.
