I own a sunglasses kiosk in the rogue valley mall in medford oregon I just closed down my other sunglass kiosk in aberdeen washington. Now a company named new york shades or nys collections. is putting together a deal with general growth properties to put a sunglasses kiosk in every mall in this region which is only to malls. But! my kiosk is in one of these malls. and the best one of the two at that. now that means only one thing. when my lease is up in october i am not able to sign a new one i HAVE to leave and stupid nys gets to put there kiosk here. therefore basicly putting me out of the sunglasses business here in medford. Luckily I have got the mall leasing director to garentee me my kiosk spot back in january after the christmas season. I have the best kiosk location in the mall. right in the middle! busiest spot with the most people walking by. now I am fighting this to keep my sunglasses of course but all the mall biog kahonas care about is the almighty dollar and more then likley I will not be able to outbid or offer a better deal to this mall then the big company nys collections can. so if i lose my sunglasses what else could i sell at my kiosk?? it has to have a low cost. and no buy in! some of the stuff i looked at adams car care accessorys. 10 thousand dollar buy in. and you only get 30 percent of list. and on top of that u cant raise the prices its in the agrement u have to keep them level with everyone else.
to get a idea of my current profit margin i pay 1.43 per pair of shades and sell them for 12 dollars. i make about 10 thousand dollars a month after restocking. i need somthing more like that. so far i have considerd a custom license plate frame place a custom belt and belt buckle place a candle place with diffrent smelling candles.
anyone else have any ideas??? this region is full of white people so i cant sell the bling watches and bling belt stuff most people here are preppy and the town i would say is of the lower uperclass.
ANYONE ANY IDEAS?????

My one buddy has done quite well for himself with his little ball hat / toque kiosk. He has actually made enough doing this that he just started a second business selling Vespa scooters in the mall.
Judging by your market, maybe custom pet clothes/accessories? Are there a lot of teenagers in that mall? I like the leather idea too; it seems like now even the upper-middle and lower-upper classes are getting into Harleys and stuff like that.

that's sucks. i always hate for the little guy to get the big squeeze.
what about one of those stainless steel engraving places. they sell stuff like pens, flasks, pocket knives, etc and you have it engraved with intitals or your name.
hmm some good idea....keep them coming...I will be going to look into all these tommorow.
Wow me and my wife have a very good source for candles. We are just starting to look into a mall kiosk. maybe you can help me out with some pointers, I got a great idea for it, it is even backed by a web site so if they can't make it to the mall I can have them drop shipped to them. I'll sent you a PM.
