There has always been an oil monopoly (cartel).

That large BP pipleline that needed to be replaced may have started all of this.
WA releases, Iran, Katrina, Iraq, Ethanol, Hybrids, Venezuela, the U.S. & European economies & many other factors have parts to play.

The simple fact that it has gone down over a buck this fast tells everyone we got scammed & screwed.

IMHO I think the Saudis are easing western concerns about Iran as they also do not want a nuclear Iran.
Iran has large oil production and any threats or acts of war against thier soveriegn soils would cause a disaster in prices.
Because our markets are all under supercomputer calculations and protections, I believe that current manipulated prices are meant to squeeze the smaller producers & Iran. Thier threats to stop selling oil to the West made enemies.

What we have here is a large powerplay amongst the oil co's, powerful people and the rich.
Aramco, Exxon and others will eventually place prices where they want them.
Forget about wars, the debt, the dead & enjoy these prices while they last-

I've seen it down around $1.86 (right down the street from one of the local tank farms.)
It's been as low as $1.96, close to home. It took a little bump last week, but it's back down to $1.99 or less, again.

Unless there's a major hurricane, or war in the Middle East between now and 11/8, there won't be a significant increase in the price of crude oil, therefore, should be no major jump in gas prices. These conspiracy theories that politicians have any direct control over gas prices just make me laugh.

As for gas prices below $2. You'll generally find the lowest prices, from what I've found, in South Carolina and Missouri. They seem to have the lowest gas taxes, which contributes to their low prices.

Yep, prices jumped about 11 cents here, just about overnight. Disappointment.

They've been hovering from just below to just above $2, here, for several weeks. Works for me.

Oddly it only seems to have stayed @ $2.039 for 1 or 2 days (went up the day I needed gas... figures). Was $1.979 Friday morning @ all the stations on my way to work. I had enough to get to work but not enough to get home. It ws $2.039 at the same stations on my way home. Filled up. Didn't go out Saturday, so I'm not sure when it chaged again but now its back down to $1.979 at all the same stations...

I filled up ar Sam's Club at $2.089 last week. Most of the stations in the area have it for $2.139-$2.159 for regular. Why do they charge the added 0.9 cents/gallon for gas? I mean I don't pay $2.999 for a gallon of milk.
