Recap those dozens or hundreds of convictions relating to stealing the national election for us Toddster... I looked and couldn't find but one group of idiots on the democratic side slashing tires, and the other group that had to deal with a city mayor. The one that had to do with murder didn't have anything to do with the election.

From Todds cut and paste in that thread.

"8) Tom Esposito – convicted of voter fraud. The former Logan County West Virginia Democratic Mayor, faces up to three years of federal prison time."

Bwuhahaha.

The former Logan County West Virginia Democratic Mayor

Big fishes you caught there douchester. I could do the same thing and net a WAY bigger catch. These people are small fries. Try on John Rowland Governor of CT for size. Or Tom Delay House Majority Leader. Try Duke Cunningham, United States Congressman. Try David Savian, head of the Federal GAO office appointed by W. Those are REAL. Mayors and town clerks are a joke. So are you.

Awww. And Todd was SO proud of that little fish. I remember when he caught it. He didn't sleep all night!

Predictions:
Tom DeLay (R TX) will NOT be re elected to Congress.
Catherine Harris (R- FL) Will NOT unseat senator Bill Nelson.
Senator Rick Santorum (R-PN) will lose his re election bid.
Ted Strickland (D) will defeat Ken Blackwell (R) in the governors race in Ohio. In spite of a republican whispering campaign alleging the democratic challenger is a gay pedophile ( He's a married, ordained minister).
http://www.columbusdispatch.com/?story=dispatch/2006/07/27/20060727-A1-03.html
Mitt Romney WILL NOT win the Republican presidential nomination.
I predict the American public MAY finally be tired of the Rovian dirty tricks and smear tactics that have been so successful in the last few elections.

This is SO easy.

I listed several predictions earlier, some by me, some by con servative columnist Robert Novak and recieved personal insults from Toddster for my trouble.
I expect the same again.

HaHAHAHA, you kill me kid. You left the number by the link.

Yeah, Todd found ONE bad guy...Uh, next to number 8...BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

As for Tom Delay, his is STILL not a Convict, just indicted. Leave it to a liberal to not know the difference.

But if its federal crminals you want, I'm only TOO happy to oblige. In the last 30 years more than a dozen members of congress have been convicted of felony crimes, Only 2 were Republicans! Read 'em and weep laughing boy.

- Rep. Charles Diggs Jr., D-Mich., was convicted in 1978 of operating a payroll kickback scheme in his congressional office. He served seven months of a three-year prison term. He was re-elected, then resigned in 1980.
- Rep. Michael Myers, D-Pa., served 20 1/2 months of a three-year prison sentence for accepting bribes from FBI agents impersonating Arab businessmen. He was convicted in 1980 and expelled from Congress.
- Four other House members were convicted in the Arab businessmen bribery scandal: Democratic Reps. John Murphy of New York, Frank Thompson of New Jersey, John Jenrette of South Carolina and Raymond Lederer of Pennsylvania. Thompson and Murphy were sentenced to three years; Jenrette, two years; and Lederer, one year.
- Rep. Mario Biaggi, D-N.Y., was convicted in 1988 of extorting nearly $2 million from defense contractor Wedtech Corp. He resigned from Congress and served two years and two months of an eight-year sentence. He was defeated in his 1992 re-election bid.
- Rep. Mel Reynolds, D-Ill., was sentenced in 1995 to five years in prison for having sex with an underage campaign worker. He resigned from Congress, then was sentenced in 1997 to 6 1/2 years for bank fraud and other violations. The second sentence, which was to run at the same time as the first, was commuted in 2001 by President Clinton. ( they probably had a frat party together and invited over all the interns)
- Rep. Walter Tucker III, D-Calif., was sentenced in 1996 to two years and three months in prison for accepting and demanding bribes while mayor of a Los Angeles suburb. He resigned from Congress a week after his 1995 conviction.
- Rep. Dan Rostenkowski, D-Ill., pleaded guilty in 1996 to two felony mail fraud charges, lost re-election and served 15 months in prison. Clinton pardoned him in 2000.
- Rep. James A. Trafficant, D-Ohio, was convicted of 10 counts of bribery, conspiracy and racketeering, expelled from Congress and sentenced in 2002 to eight years in prison.

And this list does NOT include two Democratic members of Congress, Jefferson and McKinney who are still under investigation.

Don't throw stones in a glass house Conn

I wish more Europeans would post here,Nick
A different perspective would be nice.
I understand our cowboy president isn't too popular in some quarters, eh?.
But I wouldn't blame europeans for fearing to swim in shark infested waters like these, though.
Its almost as bad as the opinion page in the Australian sometimes!

Yeah, well since the sentenced began with "in the last 30 years..." I suppose this item needed inclusion.

But by all means, bring up a list of convicted Republican Congressmen and women in the last 30 years. I'll put it up on the book shelf right beside "The Great Big Book of French Heros of World War II" and "The Book of Jamaican Ice Hockey Stars"

Ooop, you dropped your pointy hat Conn.

And we are still waiting to hear you PREDICTIONS. Or have you liberals got so used to losing that you can't think about anything but bashing the other guy anymore.

I was one of the first people to post predictions in this thread, is your memory THAT short? I guess that explains why you forgot that it's the Republicans being indicted and convicted on a grand scale. It might also explain why you seem to have forgotten all about Daniel Elsberg's office break in and the Watergate break in by the Nixon administration. Widely viewed as the most corrupt in modern history. Could also be the reason you forgot that Oliver North was indeed convicted by a jury for his role in Iran Contra, only to be later overturned on a technicality. Lucky him.

Well, she certainly does bring a lot of assets to the position.

Naaa, couldn't be true. Afterall, we Republicans are all uptight zenophobic religious stiffs who wear bow ties and walk with our butt cheeks clenched together, right?

Hmmm..in all seriousness, I would recommend looking for a Presidential Candidate of the calibre of Tony Blair.... ..what am I saying??!! A Conservative supporter, recommending a Socialist?? Hahaha!! Blair is the best 'conservative' Premier the Conservatives never had...after Maggie Thatcher, that is I can't STAND his stupid wife( ), but he does seem to have courage, is willing to stand by his beliefs, and is a very good debater. He made a very bad mistake by making that loutish, old-world 'Labour' oaf John Prescott his deputy...but I think he had to accept that nomination by the Left, in order to get the Premiership.
Thinking back, I rather think my nomenclature as per US usage, is more of a Libertarian than a Conservative (Republican). But whatever, I do admire to a degree, Mr Blair.

HAHA

OK OK, it's reassuring to know we can actually share a laugh together Neptune.

But how about it? think you can drum-up an intellectually honest prediction?

The ponit of this exercise BTW is not chest beating. I didn't jump in with an 'I told you so' thread in '04 and I won't now. I am interested in gaging my own observations of the mood and values of the electorate agains the polls. So electorate, speak-up.

Lucky him.

You need a history lesson. Nixon was run out of office mainly by Republicans for attempting to cover up wrongdoing for which he had no knowledge beforehand. If he'd thrown the miscreants to the wolves he'd be a saint now. Nixon was responsible for some of the most left wing nonsense since Roosevelt. He belonged to the Republican party but he was not a Republican in his policies.
Oliver North also acted outside the knowladge of the President. Reagan opened his adminestration up to a full investigation. The difference between a great man and a mediocre one.

Uh, an obvious question, why do you have a list of people who've never been convicted of anything as defense of your position that the GOP is corrupt?

I conceed Duke Cunningham but what about the rest?

Pombo? Convicted of nothing, Schwarzenegger? Nada, etc etc etc. The re-occuring theme is "Recipient of contributions from Abramoff ", by that standard just as many Democrats are "corrupt". The list I posted above is CONVICITONS, not inuendo. So where is the list of CONVICTED Republicans?

ray ray, we're not talking SCANDALS. We're talking CONVICTIONS.
Let's see a list of GOP who have been TRIED AND CONVICTED of crimes.

Saying a politician was involved in a scandal is a bit redundant. They're politicians. Virtually all of them are in some kind of scandal at one time or another - regardless of party.

No listings of what they were probed for or investigated for. Just show us the CONVICTIONS.
Remember, innocent until proven guilty, right? Liberals do still believe that, right?

Well, actually the question was rhetorical. In the last 30 years only 2 federal GOP members have been convicted of a felony crime. A handful of state and local government officials have been but by no means anywhere near the number of NDC members at any level of government. That is why the whole "culture of corruption" arguement made me laugh out loud when I first heard it. It is beyond the pale!

I hope you're hungry because I'm gonna make you eat those words. We have been through this before, but I'll gladly take you on in historical fact. Here is a discussion from long ago about this same topic.

//www.fiero.nl/forum/Archives/Archive-000003/HTML/20060206-6-033815.html

This is one post from me in that thread.

"Here you go, this is from HardBall, its Chris Mathews playing the tapes for Kissinger.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8073301/

"But here‘s a quote from June of ‘71, a year before the Watergate break-in. “The way I want that handled, Bob”—that‘s Bob Haldeman—“is through another way. I want Brooking. Just break in. Break in and take it out. You understand?”

“But what do we have to do—how do we do that?”

Nixon says: “Don‘t discuss it here.”

In other words, Nixon is afraid he‘s being taped, I guess.

“You‘re to break into the place, rifle the files, and bring me.”

And then he says: “Just go in and take it. Go in around 8:00 or 9:00 at night and clean it up.” "

Here is story about it. This is from a different breakin he ordered before watergate.
.
.
.
.

"Lone guard foils all the president's men

July 24 2002

One year before the Watergate break-in, Richard Nixon ordered a burglary at the Brookings Institution, telling aides, "I want the Brookings safe cleaned out."

A few days later, two men with attache cases entered the think tank's lobby, asking to see Morton Halperin, a critic of the president's Vietnam policy. But the security guard on duty, a tall, thin Caribbean native with a no-exceptions policy, didn't recognise them. Roderick Warrick told them they had to clear their entrance with Halperin. And the men left.

On Monday, three decades after that encounter, Brookings staff - from the institution's president to its computer technicians, from scholars to corporate executives - turned out to honour the man who is credited with saving the institution's files. They all had stories to tell about his stalwart devotion to the rules - like the time he would not let the vice-president of Brookings into the building because he had not met him before.

"He has the most complaints against him of any employee I supervise," Kathy Santos, director of building operations, said proudly. "At least until September 11, I used to get a complaint once a month."

An employee would chafe because Warrick wouldn't let his girlfriend up to the library. Or let him take a computer home. Or even come to work if he'd forgotten his access card. "I calmed them down and told them Warrick was just doing his job," Santos said.

Just doing his job earned Warrick the affection of many on the staff. In a reception room laden with salmon canapes, celebratory cake and fresh-cut fruit, they honoured his years on Brookings' payroll - and talked about his service to them even before that, when he worked for a local real estate development company that handled Brookings security.

When Warrick turned away the two men in attache cases, no one knew who had sent them.

But in 1996, the National Archives released a fresh batch of tapes recorded by the Nixon White House. In them, Nixon ordered the burglary at Brookings, then widely considered a liberal organisation. The order came the night the Supreme Court ruled six to three that The New York Times and The Washington Post had a constitutional right to publish the Pentagon Papers, a secret Pentagon study that chronicled decades of failed policy in Vietnam.

Concerned that Halperin and Leslie Gelb, who directed the Pentagon Papers, might leak further anti-war materials, Nixon told White House Chief of Staff H. R. Haldeman to have someone rifle Brookings' files and "just go in and take it! Go in around 8 or 9 o'clock . . . and clean it up."

Warrick's actions in foiling Halperin's uninvited guests - no matter who sent them - made him the toast of the staff on Monday. Stephen Hess, Brookings' presidential scholar, said he delayed a television appearance so he could attend Warrick's party. But he seemed a bit jealous of all the attention given the guard. "They didn't give me a party at my 30th," he said.

Warrick, a dapper, moustached man who prefers not to give his age, seemed a little puzzled by all the attention. "A lot of people think I'm mean, but I'm just careful," he said. "You have to be careful. All it takes is one mistake."

- Los Angeles Times"

.
.
.

Nixon also planned the break in into Dr. Fieldings office to get dirt of Daniel Elsberg. Nixon wanted to destroy Elsberg for releasing the Pentagon Papers. All of this happened a YEAR before Watergate. So if Nixon is literally on tape telling his cronies to break in and steal information a year before Watergate, and then Watergate is broken into and papers were being stolen, and then Nixon actively participated in the coverup and destroyed evidence (remember thje missing tape on his presidentrial recordings), then why on Earth should anybody in their right mind believe Nixon was innocent. Even if he was innconect of the Watergate planning, he WAS guilty of the Fielding and Brookings breakins, AND he actively participated in the coverup of all three breakins. So how about you take a history lesson.

Wesley Clark will be the next president>Mel Gibson vice-president.
I remember reading & keeping this from the internet somewhere:

WASHINGTON - Former Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark accused the Bush administration Saturday of taking the nation on a "path to nowhere" with misguided moves on national security.

The retired Army general and NATO military commander argued in the Democrats' weekly radio address that the United States needs a new plan to win the war on terror after failing to find Sept. 11 terror mastermind Osama bin Laden, fighting an unnecessary war in Iraq and stumbling in halting weapons proliferation in North Korea and Iran.

Clark coupled his criticism of President Bush's policies with a renewed call for the Democratic plan on national security that party leaders unveiled this week.

Portrayed by opponents as weak on national security, Democrats contend that they've cut into the Republican advantage in this midterm-election year based on White House missteps on Iraq and ports security.

"This administration has taken us on a path to nowhere - replete with hyped intelligence, macho slogans and an incredible failure to see the obvious," Clark said in the broadcast.

A candidate in 2004 for the Democratic nomination, Clark has been mentioned as a possible contender again in 2008.

The administration "has shown tragic incompetence in everything from nation building in Iraq to disaster relief in Louisiana," he said. "Let's face it: We're not going to win the war on terror unless we start making more friends and fewer enemies in the world, and we're not going to be able to protect the American people without a new strategy."

Clark joined House and Senate Democrats on Wednesday in calling for a strategy that would provide U.S. agents with the resources to pursue bin Laden, redeployment of U.S. forces from Iraq, better equipment for the military and improved screening of containers and inbound cargo.

They amount to many of the proposals that Democrats have offered previously.

"Security is the first promise of any government, and Democrats mean to help deliver it," Clark said.

He argued that the nation "is in danger from the administration's mistaken policies and priorities."

Clark offered a litany of missteps, from the failure to get bin Laden to the more than 2,350 U.S. military deaths in Iraq and the thousands wounded.

Domestically, he cited several challenges, including rising gasoline prices, illegal immigration and the impact of global warming.

*This guy is a moderate who will try to restore common sense, competency & vision to this so-called nation <IMHO>
