I had a Bridge put in about 2yrs ago. Since then the Bridge has not been in longer than 6 months after re-cementing . I have had numerous discussions with this dentist. He now says that my only options maybe , contiued re-cementing and maybe it will eventually stay put or pay for a replacement Bridge. I dont feel like I have gotten what I paid for. I am seriously considering legal options. Do you have any expirence or advice regarding dental malpractice laws?

JRM

Not sure what you should do, exactly, but perhaps you can go to a few dentists, and get their opinions as to why this is happening... ?

seems like there may be an issue with your bite (the alignment of the bridge) if enough force is focused on one spot that isn't "right" there goes the foundation...

Had that once with a cap. what a pita.

You could perhaps go to a few places and tell them that you were thinking about switching dentists... (they may give you a free checkup...) then say, oh yeah, my teeth happen to fall out all the time...

Please clarify-
It was in for 2 years? Came out? Recemented? Came out after 6 months?

You're probably SOL though. Unless you can prove that, after all this time, that the failure was due to his action/inaction.

My personal advice concerning Dentists-
1. Do not go to a Dentist who works alone. He gets no feedback on the Quality of his work.
2. Avoid Dentists over 50 years old. You can't teach an old dog...
3, Avoid Dentists with less than < 6 years experience, unless you want them to learn on you.

If the bridge won't stay in:
1. Go to another Dentist- Just because your dentist can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done. Specialist = Prosthodontist. He would have the most current knowlege about Dental Cements. But he won't be cheap.
2. If the bridge is N/G- just resign yourself to have it done by another dentist- Murphy's Law dictates that it will come out over a weekend, on the beach, during sex, or some other time where a Dentist is inaccessable.

Dental Schools may offer a Discount. Their motivation is not money. Call around- Prices are HIGHER in the city.

G'Luck.

I've had five dentists in six years. When one pisses me off I find another. One guy filled a tooth twice now and it keeps falling out, I'm not giving him another chance to fix it.
Good luck
