Below is a letter I received.I know the request is genuine and I'm putting it up here because I believe this is the most caring group of people that it has been my pleasure to know. Both my parents died of some form of cancer and I consider this way of helping just a little bit of my share towards finding a cure for this terrible disease. Now on to the letter!

This year, I'll be participating in a very special event called the
Breast Cancer 3-Day.

I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands
of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast
cancer research, education, screening and treatment through
the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the
National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

I've agreed to raise at least $2,200 in donations. I've set my
personal goal at $6,600. So I need your help. Would you please
consider making a donation that's right for you. Please keep in
mind how far I'm walking -- and how hard I'll have to train.

According to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation,
approximately 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with
breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the
disease. All our lives have been touched by breast cancer in
some way. That's why I'm walking so far! . I h ope that you'll
share this incredible adventure with me -- by supporting me in
my fundraising efforts.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

support The Breast Cancer 3-Day

Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who may be
supportive.

God forbid your wife.mother, sister, girlfriend or anyone you know should be diagnosed with breast cancer. Now is a chance to help before that possibility.I'd rather help now than wish I had helped later. The information is in the initial post, but it would be even better if we as a group made one donation that would send a message that we care.If there is interest I will talk to the people involved and find out about donating individually but in the name of our board.Let me know, please!

Like one vote can make the difference in an election, your help can make the difference in whether a cure can be found for this horrific disease. If your daughter, wife, sister,or mother are ever unfortunate enough to get this will you feel regret that you didn't help or be at peace knowing you have helped to find a cure.
As individuals our help is appreciated, but as a group we can show other forums(many people here belong to other boards)what we have done and they will join us to help such a good cause.Smoke one less pack, drink one less drink, eat a smaller meal----it all adds up!
It came to me while I was typing up this post; Why not a friendly competition with other boards to see who can help the most?
Any ideas?

I can only hope that this insidious disease never hits any one I know.If it does,I will
at least know I tried to help!

Thanks for bringing this back up, Hugh. I had forgotten about it in all the semi-madness that is my daily life.

I did my small part.
C'mon y'all. As much stuff as we all buy and sell through Paypal or with a credit card over the 'net, this is even easier.
