Ok, so I get the Sunday paper and splashed across the front page is.

THE WHOLE WORLD IS CRYING

I couldn't help but to think about all those weeping Aberiginal tribes persons, Namibinise, Chinese and lets not forget the Goat heards persons of Napal..

The editor must have taken the day off and the floor sweeper was temporarily standing in because that had to be the stupidest headline I've read in decades.

I read somewhere that there is not a single nation on Earth that does not have a Catholic Church and Catholic followers so, in effect, the headline is correct if one views the world as a community of nations.

I think the sheep are overacting, as they tend to do...

The most moving this Pope did in the last decade was turning his other cheek on pedophile priests.

Well. lets see. El Popo has publicly ignored pedophile preists.
Steadfastly said that God hates condoms even as AIDS has become an epidemic.
Never failed to remind the flock that ANY form of birth control is a sin.
Other than that he mostly seems like a nice enough guy.
I heard he used to love skiing.

If people ignore the Catholic rule that sex that is only to be between a married husband and wife, then they can also ignore the Catholic rule that condoms are bad. If people listened to the rule that sex is only to be between a married husband and wife, then condoms would unnecessary for nearly everyone.

Except couples that can't use other forms of birth control and really don't or can't have children, or, one in a marrage has a form of herpies and does'nt want to transmit to the other.

That dosen't even deserve a reply/ rebuttal. And I'm sorry that I offered one, so I deleted it.

Ok John, since when does a very small percentage of people in the world constitute "The World"?

What I was getting at (since you seem to have missed it) is that news papers are to report the facts in a "nonbias" way. However this headline seems to be slanted considerably to the right in it's assumption that the entire globe of people are catholic and crying.

The proper headline would have read
Catholics around the word mourn.

But hey wtf do I know? I don't have a sheepskin in literary arts adoning my wall, I'm a highschool dropout.
I need another joint, this planet has gone totally bonkers and no one seems to notice it but me... Mihh... mayby it's time for a new hat.

How did one person in a monogomous relationship where both partners were virgins when they got married get herpes?

What I'm saying is that the rule about no condoms is a Catholic rule. As is the rule that the only permissable sex is between married people. If someone violates the rule about adultery or fornication, then they aren't likely to avoid condom use because the Pope said so.

So if someone is "untainted" by wester religeon, why would what the Pope said about condoms matter?

I cant get over the quality of news reporting on Yahoo.com

Friday afternoon they reported the pope is dead

an hour later they reported his condition had gotten worse (worse than dead?)

today they had the headline: Pope's body moved

MOVED?! it MOVED?! All by itself?

you had to read the fine print (the story) saying the Pope's body WAS moved, from one location to another.

unfortunately this is an erroneous view. i routinely read papers from the 1850s and 60s, and bias is everywhere. newspapers (and media in general) are owned by people or corporations, and generally exist to promote their views. real news is there mainly to fill in between, and to lend credibility to the editorials and the ads. the more they can insinuate opinion into the news, the better.

I disagree. Many people respected the pope who were not Catholic. Jewish and Muslim leaders alike had great respect and admiration for the Pope. I am not saying I necessarily think the headline is the best I have ever read, but I don't see the big deal.

At least I'm not a trendy, pretentious jerk who suddenly gives a shlt now that the Pontiff has become worm food.

Good deeds do not negate bad deeds, Ken...

Why did His Holiness give pedophile priests a free ride? Why didn't he demand their dismissal, arrest, and prosecution? Why did he seem to be more interested in "ministering" to the culprits than their victims?

Either he:

A) was a cadaver with a mechanical waving arm and surgically implanted smile, propped up on a stick inside his plexiglass golf cart, while thousands of unsuspecting, hysterical faithful emitted drool and snot as they chanted in his honor, and faceless, hierarchic theocrackers in $500.00 hats really collected the bingo money, so to speak...

...or,

B) he was indifferent.

Which scenario makes you gush more, Ken?

quote

You have no idea what I may have done to affect the world, Ken.
But, I will give you a hint...

...it does not include aiding and abetting felons.

So, at least those few dozen who show up at my funeral will be genuine.

this is your new standard now - guilty when accused? someone brings accusations againts an individual and walks away with millions of dollars, and you assume the accused was guilty? It has never occurred to you that many of these people who bring accusations, then settle for money, really only wanted the money? if your child were sexually abused could YOU be paid-off to let the perp go free?

I have no ties or affiliation with the Catholic church whatsoever, but I know a man of honor and accopmplishment when I see one.

I see it in JP2, I dont see it in you.

you think by mocking or insulting the man while he lies in state you somehow raise yourself above him?

Ok, Ken. Cite one example of a victim being paid off by the Catholic church. If you can, you prove me right. If you can't, you should stop spouting off.

Well, you were complaining about what the Pope and church were doing, not law enforcement.
It was appropriate for the church to defrock the priests. What other action should the CHURCH take?
Are you suggesting the Catholic Church should start dispensing justice and giving jail terms?

I prefer the church to deal with church business and the judicial system deal with legal issues and punishment.

I do too. But, the church (and its Pope) coddled these priests instead of demanding they be held accountable by law.

so if someone accuses you of child abuse your employer should automatically assume you are guilty, fire you

and let you fend for yourself, get your own lawyer

doesnt matter whether you are guilty or not

thats how it works in your world?

Oh, but you are a follower.

No follower, just defending a brother who knows the Truth.

Bill, you have been kind of nasty lately. Did your script of goverment supplied Prozac run out?

Defending? Truth? Last time I checked truth needs no defending because it can stand strongly on it's own.

No, I've actually been myself, in fact quite content of late.

You know what the truth is. I'll leave it at that.

Where are you preaching at this weekend, since you are a minister? I can hear you from the pulpit saying "Don't make me sing, don't make me shout. Just turn those pockets inside out." Ha

This Sunday not much is planned but next Sunday myself and the other members of the congregation (all 25 including women and children 7 and up) will likely meet on the paintball field. Apparently the red flockers didn't like the ass swoupin they took last Sunday and has taken a vow to avenge their loss even though they won the last of a 3 game series. Apparently taking out all 8 members without a single loss to of our own left them feeling a bit bitter.
BTW, I recieved a call today and it appears that I have been moved up the ranks to the #2 slot of the blue flock, seems our leader likes my style.

No, I don't require money, god provides everything if and when I need it.

To which god are you referring to? The god of paintball? Who do you shoot first, the women or the kids?
