I think it is a sad day on the forum when certain members have to resort to hidding under other usernames, so they can troll the forum without fear of negative ratings. If you are looking for something reprehensible, this is it. The worst part is when they flaunt the fact that they are doing this and say that we will be surprised when we find out that they really are a well "respected" forum member. If they had any respect from me they don't now. I suggest that anyone with more than one username, or an unused username, alert Cliff so he may eliminate it. It isn't fair to the other members who wish to abide by the forum rules.
There are people on this forum that have 3 monikers.
I never could understand why they feel it is necessary to decieve others or hide who they are or how they feel but it is VERY typical these days.
Perhaps it is because one is forced to be "politically correct" and another moniker serves as a speer catcher, doomed to die in the flames of honesty and the need to be "free" of the "politically correct" chains.
I had a second user name a while back but it was just temporary. I used it because I screwed things up during a password change and couldn't log on. I wonder if it's still here. I told Cliff about everything and he said he was going to delete it.

well, looks like it's still here...you forgot to delete it Cliff
I don't think I would be able to hide behind this name though. I think people would make the connection....Ditch = Ditch2

Yes, there has been a lot of housecleaning lately, much of it needed. In light of that I've gone back and looked at the people I've rated, and in most cases I've changed negative ratings to neutral, especially if I couldn't remember why I gave a negative in the first place.
QUESTION FOR CLIFF! Several folks on my rating list are no longer around. Would it be possible to delete banned names from the rating list to keep from cluttering it up? Thanks!

No sooner does Cliff close down a thread than someone has to start a similar one to keep the fire going. I consider this trolling as well.
Maybe the best thing is to have Cliff make a general warning, and then ban any user who continues to do so. There is NO new ground, NO new points, just the same thing over and over.
Make peace and start over......
Walk away!!!!!!

Yes, enough is enough already. 400 different members posted a message yesterday, 1600 different members posted a message last month. And about 5000 in the last 6 months. About 6000-7000 members lurk here. Only a handful misbehave, saying this place is going to hell, or try to find some other excuse why PFF sucks.
I find it utterly amazing that the same people that complain about how aweful this place is, are the same people that are causing 90% of all the flamewars. I find it utterly amazing that a group of people gang up here on the forum with the sole purpose of starting trouble. I find it utterly amazing that a group of people gang up and start a "PFF sucks" forum. That they gang up and collectively harass other people. Oh, and the reason they are doing so is because they feel the people heregangded up on them to get them banned.
Is there a "witch hunt" going on? I don't know. Perhaps. But if the end result is that we finally get rid of the trash that's been hanging around here for so long, I'll be walking up front with a torch and a rake.
I get sick and tired of people that post 99% of their messages in TO/T, don't ever visit GFC or TD&Q, and simply don't realize how many people here with Fiero's are being helped keeping their car on the road (which is, in case you've forgotten, what this forum is about), and complain what a bad place this is. I get sick and tired of people who do their best to crap on PFF every single chance they get, yet sell stuff in The Mall, and ask for help with their car (using a different username) in the TD&Q section. You see, most of the people that are complaining about PFF so hard, are the ones that can't stay away from PFF. Even the banned members still spend hours at end here. I see them search the forum for tech related info. I see them read threads. I see them being totally dependent of this place for keeping their car running. Now in my book, that makes them the biggest hypochrites alive.

Unfortionatly, when you walk away is when you get shot in the back. This place is SO much better now that the trolls have thier own trash can fiero forum. That was not acomplished by walking away.
Cliff, here is an idea. How about if someone has two names, so they can troll under one, you merge the ratings and merge the user name so we all can tell who it is? Currently you are protecting the trolls by not letting us (the forum police apointed by you) see who is doing this.
As to the witch hunt part, only the witches have banning to fear. Stimpy couldn't even get his alter ego banned, and he tried.

Come to think of it I guess he did get it banned. By blatantly boasting that he was breaking the forum rules, Cliff steped in. But per the troll feared rating bar he was still safe.

I've been wondering this too.

I know I'm mis-representing what you said with this quote, since your point is about the people who stay in OT and then think the Forum sucks. I just wanted to highlight it because I spend 99% of my time in TO/T, but mostly because I don' t always have much to say. I'm mechanically inept, but have gotten TONS of help via TD&Q and GFC. I don't think this place is bad, and it's not broken. It's just a vocal minority that is trying to stir things up. The thing they don't realize is that we'll all be here long after they get ****canned. And good riddance.
The forum is great, man. And like you say, 6,000- 7,000 know that.

Like anything in life, PFF is what you make of it. I personally find this place a great place to hang out. I have made many friends here, a few I've even had the pleasure of meeting face to face. I am not the most mechanically inclined, but tech has always helped when I've needed it. GFC always has lots of neat and interesting things to offer.
I spend a lot of time in O/T because I've found others with similiar interests here. Debates can be great and constructive, flame wars are no fun.
PFF does not suck. A few people that can not behave in a social setting does not constitute a place going to the dogs. Think of it this way. If you took your significant other out to dinner and someone at the table next to you continued to yell obscenites, and berate everyone there, wouldn't you do something? Ask the manager to have them removed, maybe some would take matters into their own hands?
The Forum has removed these unruly patrons, now everyone can enjoy their meals.
edit: this place is so cool that it will even let me correct my spelling when I'm too lazy to look it over before hitting the submit button.

Don't feel bad. In a blind taste test with coke and coke, some people will pick pepsi, if it's on the list.

Guess what, guys and gals: I'm actually The Punisher!
I even have the tattoo to prove it!
On a more serious note: Sorry to be so blunt, but these incessant "the forum is going to hell!" posts are like watching Chicken Little run around. It does get old after awhile.

Maybe not, but after I read that thread in which he tried, I gave BOTH his usernames negatives.

What, are you going to insult him in a PM too like you are doing to me right now? If your so ticked off Jeff for losing your alter ego id from playing that troll game of yours then try getting mad at the right person which you can easily see who that is by simply looking in a mirror. Do me a favor all mighty Stimpy and unless you have anything nice, informative or helpfull to share with me from now on don't PM me any more of your insulting crap. OK? Thanks.

No, actually I was quite polite in tone with Ed. He's a nice enough guy who has always impressed me as being pretty easy going. He has every right to rate me however he chooses, and I'm really not losing sleep over it. (I'll be in bed wayyy before 4 in the morning) I just had a question for him.
Steve, you really ought to try relaxing. Maybe take up yoga or fly-fishing or something.
