I have noticed that is seems as if the PFF community has a decent share of military members. That being said, I thought it may be interesting to see who all is indeed in service.
If you could just put it in a format similar to the following I could edit my post and make a list. But on the other hand, if this interests nobody, just let the thread die to the archives. (Any other info you want to add, feel free.)

Of course NG/ANG/Reserves counts. Anyone who says otherwise may get my first negative rating, 'cause everyone knows that The Chief is always right......

I'm in the Navy, I'm a Chief Petty Officer (E-7 for the un-initiated...), Electrician's Mate (Submarines).

Just a shade over 18 years of active service so far, with a year left on my shore duty tour here at Navy Personnel Command.

NAVY CHIEF, NAVY PRIDE... HOO YAH!!

Okay.....I'm just the wife but heres the scoop on my husband

Active Duty Air Force........Master Sergeant (hopefully soon to be Senior, he just tested)......C-141 Loadmaster

So I guess he would be fierogirls-mom's husband....hehehe

He's been in 23 years and just re-enlisted a few months ago again. We are stationed at McGuire AFB here in Jersey if anyone is coming thru that way.....look us up.

Hope that helps......

PS: ATTN---2birds..... I was on the OK City for my Med. crusie in 95, as part of a one day exchange thing...(I was the only blue shirt to go).... Those subs are SOOO cool.....totally bad a55!.... The only thing I don't think I could handle would be hot racken....Thats just too weird. But everything else was awesome... I had a really good time. Good luck man!

Lotta Squids here...

intlcutlass:
I got to spend a day on the bird farm known as the Teddy Roosevelt on my Med run, back in 89, when I was on the Hyman G. Rickover (one of the OK City's squadron mates). Eating a cheeseburger under the wing of an F-14 during a steel beach pinic was kinda strange. And I agree, hot-racking wasn't exactly the best part of fast attack life...

US Navy Hospital Corpsman HM2 (E5)

My specialty is neuropsychiatric technician, basically I talk to people and write about, a psychologist without the extra zero on my paycheck.

I've been calling myself a "combat psych tech" because of my time with the Marines in Iraq last year. As the rounds are flying in "So how does that make you feel?"

My hands stay a lot cleaner and my back hurts less than when I was a mechanic at the dealerships.

Hmm, no pilots yet?

I'm not in yet, but I will be. Working on my private pilots license and hope to fly NAVY. Going to join up when I finish college. Crossing my fingers for an ROTC full ride scholarship to Emmry Riddle (ya right) but I'll be in no matter what.

Ok does Virtural Squadrons count....J/K guys dont fragg me. I salute all those of you who serve our country. It takes Dedication wich you all have.

On the note of the Virtural Squadron we have had many Military Personal in our ranks. Our Commander was a Marine Sniper (note once a Marine always a Marine). Several others served in other Branches but Two I am most proud of is our Navy Pilot who flys the Greyhound keeping emergancy supplys in stock on board the Carriers. and the other who I havnet herd from was from the Real squadron that our squadron Honors. The VMF-323 Death Rattlers Our site is www.vmf323.com and was done by our squadron commander Striker.
Also if you check out our site there are links to the History of the Real Squadron that Fought in Operation Iceburg from Kadena Okinawa durring WW2. One reason I chose this squadron is because my Grandfather was there at the same time as an Anti Aircraft Gunner. He still talks about the Kamikazi attacks one that nearly clamed the life of his gun crew. and not to mention that there are 5 others in my family that served in WW2 and one was killed in action over Polisti Romania.
I have the Greatest Respect for all who serve in the Military..... Including the Merchant Marines who are overlooked to much.

Updated. There's some errors in there now, so I need alittle help because I don't know exactly what they are (trying my best though).

Also, if you have better abbreviations for the Jobs section, let me know. I have a limited amount of space to fit everyone on a single line while maintaining the "columns."

A1C USAF served 1989-92 as an areospace ground equiptment specialist aka AGE
15 months "Incirlik Air Base in Turkey"
1 year McConnell AFB Wichita KS

took an early out option they were offering to reduce the number of troops after the conflict with iraq and feed the kurds wound down "thought if i got out i could go on to college" lol they forgot to tell that i was forfieting the GI BILL in the process "no hard feeling though"

well it was a short but life changing expirence for me "glad to have been there"

working for coleman now for 10 years and after 12/13 year after leaving the airforce to go to college it looks like i'll be starting that goal next semester lol probably more info than you'd be interested in but there it is... thanx for asking
and thank you to all of you who have served and continue to serve

one question "has anyone been absent from pff due to afgahnistan or iraq" do when have PFF'ers serving in either country or tdy who has not checked in here at pff for a while? just courious!

Unsafe, you've got a PM. I separated as an E-4/Sergeant, not a Senior Airman. Not sure if it's the same now, but back then, you had to spend a year as an E-4 SA, and then successfully pass a class to attain NCO status as a sergeant, but you were still an E-4 until you became a SSgt. You can shorten "Inventory Managment Specialist" to "supply"...

i was never in iraq or afganistan, but i got activated for both. for iraq i was in saudi, uae, and qatar over this past spring and summer and posted off and on. each was a tent city base that had computers in a morale tent.

for afganistan we were part of homeland security so we never left the states (i spent a month in topeca, kansas. we called it topecastan). posted from there too. in my hotel room.

from what i've heard the air force is far different from the other branches. we don't seem to ever get too far from civilization. i can only think of one trip where i don't remember computer access (egypt, tent city), but i'm fairly new to the internet so it may have been there and i just wasn't needing it.

Civilian working on Redstone Arsenal supporting NASA. I know, its a stretch, but I grew up with Military people all my life. My father was Army Civil Service for 35 years. I know your life.

Thanks for your service.
