You ought to try out the spades section of Yahoo. I'm on DSL and find myself taking a nap in between plays.

Go to www.techtv.com they should have some info there. Try the screensavers show, call for help show, or the archives.

http://www.winguides.com/registry/category.php/32/

This will explain how to play with the registery (if you dont know what that is, dont try anything listed here) to change the packet size for 56k connections, as well as High Speed connections. Winblows is configured out of the box for highspeed networks, still cant figure out why they didnt add support for the slower connections. This speeds up the Dial up connections like 200%, not sure what it'll do with a Cable/DSL, as i have Satelitte. It DID speed that up tho.

there is nothing u can do really to reduce ping. except moving closer to your isp or to the server. Just try to find servers with the lowest ping. anything under 200 will usually be a lag free game.

increasing download speeds is antoher story thogh. I just got my 3mbit dsl line activated, check out these speeds i get now.

Your raw speed was 3212549.02 bits per second.
There are 3 meaningful ways we can interpret this number:

Communications

3.2 megabits per second
How communication devices are rated. Kilo means 1,000 and mega means 1,000,000. Examples include 56k modem and 10Mbit Ethernet

Storage

392.2 kilobytes per second
The way data is measured on your hard drive and how FTP programs measure transfer speeds. Kilo is 1,024 and mega is 1,048,576.

1MB file download

2.6 seconds
The time it would take you to download a 1 megabyte file at this speed.
