It's not over. Even though I never shop there, I have always kept a close eye on their stock prices. The word is, they will be bought out by another large chain and still keep the same K-Mart name. Shhhhh..keep that on the d.l.

Martha Stewart is gone. She already has a deal with Target, and the Ch11 is all she needed...it's in her contract.

While I can't stand her (or Joan Lunden, her seperated at birth twin), she did bring a lot of revenue into KMart.

Target is gearing up to buy all the buildings, with the stock on the floor.

There's a giant blue-light flashing over KMart, and Target is pulling out the plastic...

Well, I and a good number of people I know never set foot in K-Mart again after their spokeswoman screached on her talkshow that we should all be put in jail.... For owning guns. K-Mart never did apologize, they even defended her. Then just last year they caved in to some other anti-gunners and agreed to stop selling handgun ammo. So f*ck 'em. Wal-Mart gets any and all of my business that used to go to K-Mart. It's too bad they are probably going to be taking some good, decent employees/people down with them. You turn your back on one of your core constituencies and look what happens, you're filing for bankruptcy. Big surprise, huh?

They have been declining for a long time, I have not bought any thing in K-Mart in years. I went in with my wife not long ago and when the cashier walked a way from her register without telling us anything, I was done with them, left about $50 worth of stuff in a cart for them to put back.
All because she didn’t get her break on time. What happened to doing the best job you can and the customer is always first? They always have poor lighting and the floors look dirty. After 4 years in the Navy I cant tolerate dirty floors

hmmm...I'm glad you all work at Kmart and know what's going on. I mean I must be out of the loop and have no clue, being on the inside and all. Guess that paycheck I just got was no good and all those people that came through the checkout-line was in my imagination. Considering we did 16% OVER last years sales today of all days I really must be out of a job. Take care and have a good one.

actually my KMART is doing well too. i don't know the percentage.
but it's approximatly $7-8 thousand more a day than it was last year at this time.

now if they could just stock more items on the shelf...damn ceo.
friggen 8 million chrismas bonus!

kmart needs new leadership who doesn't work for Wal-mart.

Obviously the K-Marts you two work at are not representative of the company as a whole. Or are they just filing for Chapter 11 for the fun of it and to get a little free press?

No you are correct they are closeing stores as to how many, I'm not sure if it's annouced yet so I'm not going to say. I just kind of boiled over. How many on here have actually worked for retail for any long period of time? It's not easy to go to work and put up with people comeing in and trying to give you sh** just because they've had a bad day. I just got tired of everyone thinking that because they filed chapter 11 that Kmart was going to close. Yes, they admit that "they" (being corporate" SCREWED up. But in a press release Chuck states he is takeing the full blow of responsiablity. He was brought in to try and keep the company from doing exactly what it had to do, and he didn't he knows that, and to me to publicly annouce it take a fairly decent man. As for his bonus that was approved by the board, and I'm sure it was part of an overall bonus that included them. Okay I'm done venting. And I'm now going to go to work and listen to more people come in and say "oh so what are you going to do when you're out of a job?" That is just sooo annoying. Nevermind take care.

No, Martha Stewart is still with KMart. She just said so on TV.

Its just a simple case of 'dont fix it if it aint broke'

I still stick to my opinion......its the self check out......thats why I stopped

I'm not surprised. My Inside sources told me K-Mart was getting close to this for a long time. They also tipped me with information that Burger King is in trouble also (I work for one, and can say I beleive it)

You must be one of the few... I have NEVER had a good experience in Kmart.. no matter which one I went to!

Dirty floors, unstocked shelves, bitchy employees who can't and won't help! Crappy products and high prices...

No more K-Mart!? Wheres "Shirley Q." gonna go to shop? hehe

Walmart isn't that much better then kmart. Everytime I leave the place I smell like a frenchfry grease pit for a few days. I often see some frightning people there, I normally go at night though. I do go once and a while to get cheap stuff like Oil, Grease, carparts, and tools. So I guess its not that bad .

Oh God, I hope that another Canadian chain is not venturing down into the US. It'll be Future Shop, Part II.
