Need specs 85' Cutlass Supreme. Interested in buying one for a winter beater. Need to know engine(horsepower, liters), (I know its v-6), major options, ratings, that kind of stuff. Any input on this car would be appreciated. =). This might be my winter beater. haha

This is a rear wheel drive vehicle isn't it??

V6 would be a 3.8l for rwd.

'85 Cutlass or '85 Cutlass 4-4-2?

The 2.8l engine wasn't used in the Cutlass until 1988 in my car. The 1988 Cutlass Classic had a 5.0l V8.

http://home.att.net/~mrosamilia/

That's for an '85 4-4-2.

Ugghh, the '80s V6 is where the Cutlass got its tag of "Gutless". It never had enough power to make up for the weight of the car(1985 I believe it was 3800-4000lbs).

Save up and get a '69 Hurst/Olds with a Rocket 455.

Be sure to check the rear frame for rust/rott behind the rear tires. They where overall a great car-especially for engine swaps and other mods. Easy to fix and mechanics are probably not afraid to work on it. But if you have carb troubles take it to someone older who knows carbs not just knows about them!

If its any help my father just loves those "classic coupes"

Don't get me wrong I think all Cutlii are great cars. It was just sad when the environmental acts came into play and Oldsmobile started to use the other division engines in their cars. They have made some of the best performing engines for GM, IMHO. The Rocket series, Quad4, 3.4l DOHC, 3.5l(Intrigue), Aurora. Also, their suspension technology is top notch, IMHO.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the FE series suspension was designed by them, wasn't it? I know the FE3 suspension on my car makes my big beast handle pretty damn good, I even outhandled one of them dang fangled Mercedes convertibles(the long one, looks like a lexus). The guy wasn't to impressed when his girlfriend started eyeing this beat up old Oldsmobile that just beat his ass. She gave a smile as he cut in front of me when the light turned green so he could turn right.
