[in my best canadian accent]

Don't ya know it, eh we finally have a president eh.

Sorry i couldn't resist. I haven't been keeping up on the crap that Gore has been pulling down there. All I hear about it is another lawsuit he is filing to do this or stop that.

If thats true its about time! But wait, I think Gore filed another lawsuit, have to wait another week....

I just heard Bush's speech on CNN, about starting the transition, and some "political analyst" didn't think Clinton would even receive the transition team. I say Bush should call the National Guard to escort the transition team right in the door of the White House!

Yes, We now have a new President.
Too bad he'll have to raise taxes to cover the obnoxious cost of this election. Maybe we should make the candidates pay for it all!
After all if it wasn't for the childish crying and lawsuits this would have been over 2 weeks ago! (and there are still lawsuits to settle!)

I agree with you Oreif.....I think the two "big" candidates spent over $250 million on this election. Just think of all the nice Fieros that could have bought!

More importantly though we need to get the bad taste of this election out of our mouths (that will take a LONG time). I think both candidates (especially Gore) are politically dead now. I doubt that either will hold any other political office (aside from whomever gets to be prez for the next 4 years).

I guess we'll find out.

I love that sign Wkayl!!!

I don't think we've heard the last of it. I suspect that it will be tied up in the courts for several more weeks, at the minimum.

Its not over yet, unfortunately. I heard that Gore is suing (for mental anguish) all Florida residents who did not vote for him.

Ohh.. I won't forget about the mobs of Republicans (most of whom didn't even live in Florida) that protested and pressured local officals to stop the hand counting. It's funny, they all left in motorhomes after the count was stopped.

I still feel like it's the 8th inning, Bush is ahead by one run, and has finally persuaded the umpire to call the game.

I don't think Gore would want to continue this on so long just to piss half of the country off. I think someone must know of some voting fraud or some other circumstances that happened down there.

Maybe none of us will ever know for sure, most likely only half of us would have an interest to know, and the other half probably don't want us to know.

What did those motorhomes look like?? Were you down here watching or did you just see something on the news about it??

Pressured local officials into changing their minds?? I don't think so. Seems had this been an illegal mob who was threatening the canvassing committee that the sheriff would have stepped in and taken control of the situation. That didn't happen. They were noisy but they had a right to be pissed off as the canvassing committee moved "out of the sunshine" to do a recount of only 10,000 of the 1/2 million votes behind closed doors.

You have to remember that Miami-Dade did not even schedule a vote on whether or not to do a hand recount until the day that the counts were due to be turned into the Secretary of State. They were going to vote on whether or not to hand count 1/2 million votes on the day those counts were due!!! There was never any serious attempt at counting there. Had they started on time and put some effort into it, they could have had it done. They just did an even worse job than the Palm Beach county folks did who were not able to meet the "Supreme Court"s deadline because they took off for Thanksgiving Day!! Before that august body ruled to change the election laws of Florida, Palm Beach was not even planning to BEGIN hand counting until yesterday - Sunday 26 Nov!!

This is just the eye of the storm. It is so far from over... AlGore (like egore) will drag this on with lawsuit after lawsuit and the Gore campain is trying to say the Republicans are stealing the election? How? You know after the first day of hand recounting they found 75 chads on floor. These people were "accidently" droping the ballots on the floor, useing them as fans, and dragging them across the table to get the chads to fall out. And Bush is stealing the election? Democrats are outraged when Republicans start protesting the ballots being hand counted, but Jesse "Wheres the Cameras?" Jackson can come down and protest all he wants. Once again, Bush is stealing the election??? Not to mention the Democrats hauling all the folks from the Retirment homes down to vote in front of the Judge without being registered. Gee... I wonder who there going to vote for? Also, Democrats offering to fly folks down to cuba on a Private jet and supply everthing for the trip in return for them voting twice for Gore. They will count votes comming from Cuba with any date postmark they wish, but they wont count the military ballots comming from SHIPS because they have no postmarks. What a load of BS. These people are overseas, risking their lives for our country, and were telling them that their votes dont count. That really gives them somthing to fight for.

The Sheriff down there should have taken control of it. One of the canvassing committee members admited that he felt threatened, but you don't have take my word for it.

Yes, I seen and heard about it in the news, and read about it in the newspapers (republican biased even, whoa). I would like to think these are the sources where a majority of educated people look in order to stay informed. If you believe any other sources are better then so be it.

As far as the vote counters taking Thanksgiving Day off, may I remind you it's a national holiday! Didn't you get your mail that day too?

There was nothing for the sheriff to take charge of. Had there been laws broken, I'm sure he would have stepped in. It was just Americans rather noisily expressing themselves as they are allowed to by the Constitution. If the canvassing board member felt threatened, he could have easily directed the sheriff to do something about it. None of them did and the written record of that meeting makes no mention of threats or intimidation.

Mail carriers are not required to work on national holidays, which has nothing to do with this situation. However, I could think of many people who were required to work on Thanksgiving day - hospital staffs, policemen, firemen, military personnel, etc. The election board in Palm Beach wasn't required to work that day; they were, however, required to have their counts completed by a Supreme Court imposed deadline. There was no provision set by the court to file later if the elections board wanted to eat a turkey dinner instead of doing their duty.

I'm confused, Did Algore get the only dimpled/pregnant ballots? How come Dubya didn't get dimpled ballots? Were only the democrats so weak as to not being able to push a stylis through a punch card?

Algore..get over it, you spent $160 million bucks and lost. Go back to Gepetto's puppet store and hang on the wall.
