We almost got a Fiero in 1969. Yes, not a typo at all, we almost got the Fiero in 1969 during the heyday of the Muscle Car era.

Yes mid engine and all

Fiero for 1969

Its the 1969 Fiero, not the "Mach 5"

The 1969 Fiero had a novel idea, besides being a mid engine car, it also had a "radial engine" in the same place where we have our Fiero engines at.

April 1969 Popular Science magazine, showing the design of the "X-2" (The mule for the 1969 Fiero engine.)

Ain't history grand?

If Speed Racer was created in Japan in 1966 and didn't come to the states until 1967, was there copying or was it coincidence? Did GM have the time to see the manga and someone said build it?

That's sexy!

GM needs to steal some of Holden's design engineers.
