I know this has been discussed a lot here. I have done search and read a lot but all it did was confuse me. What I need is 18 inch wheel size and tire size that will fit my 1987 GT. The car is not lowered and completely stock. I like the staggered tire sizes on it and want to keep that. I want it to look good without tires out past the fenders and no tire rubbing. I will not be putting coil overs on the rear so they must clear the stock struts also. If you happen to have some pictures I would appreciate it. Thanks for your replies.

I just spent a bit of time reserching what size to get for my 86GT. I ended up with 18x8's 35mm offset with 245/35-R18's and that is about as tall and wide as you can go with a stock suspension. The front tire has about 1/4" clearence between the tire and inner fender when the wheel is cranked all the way. The Rear tire has about 1/4" between the inner top edge of the tire and strut where the bottom of the spring sits.

We run an 18x8 with a 35mm offset with 225/40/18 tires on an 87 GT with no clearance issues. Stock suspension

One more question? What should the center bore diameter be? I want chrome wheels also. Any suggestions on brand of wheels. I just want to be certain that they will fit with no problems before I order any wheels. I am thinking as follows. Front 18 X 7 with 215/40/18 tires and Rear 18X8 wheels with 225/40/18 tires. I just like the staggered tires and I think this will give me the stance that I want on the car (slightly lower in the nose. Thanks again for your replies.
