I'm currently in communication with someone looking for a red Fiero for the movie Ping Pong Summer, which is being filmed in Ocean City, MD next month. I am unsure of what capacity the car will be used, but the Fiero was asked for specifically. They are trying to stay true to the time period of 1985, so they are preferably looking for an 84 or 85, but a later model notchy should work too.
If you can help out, please send an email to pingpongsummerstuff@gmail.com

Ummm...I don't think so. Not in 1985. The 3rd gen camaro wasn't available as a vert until 1987. And you know darn well if you put an 88 Fiero in that movie, there will be at least a dozen threads in general chat about how they screwed it up.

Buying a red 85 base coupe this weekend for a friend. totally stock all original. only issue i see with usig it for a movie set in that time period is the paint doesnt look new, tho it will soonish. I also have a red 86 SE personally but it doesnt have the stock nose. Mine looks liek the 88 formula nose tho i'm not sure what it actually came from but i assume it wasn't used in 84 or 85.

I appreciate the offers from the members across the country, but you guys need to be able to get the car to OC for the filming. If you can, then excellent!
Also, I'm not affiliated with the movie in any way. I originally offered up my 87 GT but they want to find a notchback if possible. I figured I'd be nice and help them out since the immediate area is fairly barren on the Fiero front. I did, however send my contact the link to this thread, but I don't know if she will actually monitor it at all.

Can you please have him email the address in my first post?

Same as above. Please email the address in my first post. I highly doubt they are going to be putting the engine bay on camera, but if you have a bunch of aftermarket gauges it might turn them off if they are doing any interior scenes.

The first queston that must be asked is how much is the production company willing to pay for the use of the Fiero for the day. We don't operate these cars for nothing and surely they must expect to pay several hundred to the person supplying the Fiero.

Pete, if you want to let a movie company use your Fiero for free, you have every right to do so but remember the people that produce these have movie budgets that can run millions. They can easily afford to pay a users fee. Ocean City Md is about a 4 hour ride for you and you'll probably need to stay over. Rooms in Ocean City are not cheap. I know, we pass down that way every year. Figure between $300-$400 for this trip for gas, food, lodging, & tolls. Good luck.

I have a dark red 88 GT.. paint is faded though...
The car year really dont matter since they all look the same. The problem I see with yours is if its supposed to be in the mid 80s, it wouldnt be fading yet...it would be a brand new car....

Well, I gotta be honest here, in my first post in this thread, I said I had four red Fieros and four I have but, I sure wasn't considering letting anyone use them without some form of payment. I didn't build or restore these cars for someone else to enjoy them. I would also fully expect to be paid to transport those cars to the filming location and paid for my time, not just the use of my vehilces.
So, honestly, I am not interested in the honor of my car (s) being filmed unless that honor is accompanied by a significant check. So, with that, if they want me (and my cars) they can come find me, it really isn't that hard.

Everything in life is negotiable. If you are willing to loan your car for free the Movie studio would take that deal. If you offered to pay to have your car in the movie they would eat that up as well.
But realistically, these films have budgets in the millions, (even for a low budget flick) if you ask for a few bucks they are not going to balk at that.
When I delivered my car to New Orleans for the movie, "Stay Alive" they covered my expenses, gave me two free weekends in New Orleans in the hotel where the cast and crew were staying and I got a check for use of the car.
