I was just browsing the German Fiero forum after a long time and found this:

17" DEZENT T wheels with 215/40 tires front and 235/45 rear, KONI shocks, EIBACH lowering springs, 13" Viper/Corvette brakes. PU dog bone, all bushings and engine mounts, K&N air and oil filters, battery relocated to front. Rebuilt&overbored 2.8 V6, BORLA exhaust. Mercedes SLK yellow paintjob, Mr. Mikes leather seats, door skins, shift and e-brake boots. MP3 deck and custom subwoofer behind passenger seat, F355 style front, Aus' Stage 2 side scoops, "Fie Ro" extractor front scoop. Fiero Store HD front and rear swaybars, strut tower brace, black carpet, air intake. Rodney Dickman's competition short shifter, Ultimate Getrag shift kit, SS vacuum lines and deck lid strut. Billet aluminum dash kit from Kitcarman.

Wow. I didn't realize the German Fiero group was so organized. I like the location markers ("Fierokarte").

Is that the Dietmar (sp??) rear fascia on that car? It's very interesting.

I don't like the wheels, either. Don't go with the rest of the car. Also not too hot about the two-tone treatment.

I read that it started on VW's & other German cars (in Germany) because the edge of the tire isn't allowed to stick out past the fender. They still wanted to run wide/deep dish wheels, so they stretched narrow tires over wide rims to keep the tire edge in. It became a trend that spread over here too, mainly on VW's & imports...

Also let's em slam their cars to the ground with wide rims & have less chance of rubbing, going for the 'hellaflush' look...
