I was just dreaming about my 1st Fiero again, and thought it may (eventually) be cool to swap out for a 2.0L Turbo Eco-Tech that was in the Saturn Sky Redline.

It's 260 horsepower at 5300 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. of torque at 2500 rpm - Direct injection, all aluminium & GM's highest specific output engine ever at 2.1 horsepower per cubic inch. (I used to work at a Saturn Dealer)

The Sky was about 3000 lbs with either the AT or MT

Is this a do-able swap or has it already been done?

Is that not a different, less powerful engine?

They stopped building Sunbirds in 1994. The Ecotec didn't come out until 1996.

Yes, the Sunbird had a 2.0L Turbo variant but it was not an Ecotec and it was only rated at ~165 hp.

I have seen turbocharged 2.4L ecotecs in Fieros, and the supercharged lsj ecotec, I have not seen a true 2.0L turbo swapped Fiero. The turbo ecotec is the most difficult to swap of the ecotec line (so I have gathered)

That motor in the Turbo Sky, FLIES!

Someone should do it...and I'm just crazy enough to think about doing it but never actually getting around to it.

None of the newer Direct Injection engines have been swapped in. They use somewhat different engine management systems, and nobody has figured out how to run them yet, in a Fiero. You could move all the necessary electronics over into the Fiero itself, and it should work just fine, but nobody has done it, as most people don't want to swap the gauges to the Cobalt/Solstice/Sky/HHR/etc… gauges, and other little things.
