where on an 84 indy do you check and or add 4 speed transmission fluid. Gears grind at various times and im thinking it might be low on fluid. Thanks alot Dan

Probably the same as the 85 and later year Isuzu 5-speed. Remove the VSS (carefully so as to not knock off the plastic gear). Fill through the hole where it goes. There's a full line on the VSS shaft (use it as a dip stick).

The 84 has a plug at the top/side of the tranny. It is usually tagged telling you to use 5W-30. Remove plug, fill until oil/syncromesh comes out and put plug back in. To drain, pull plug at bottom (same side of tranny).
