HI all

I asked this before in some threads, but never found a good answer, as far as I remember though...

Wondering how you could quiet down a 3800 motor without silenceing the SC? Or is it possible to highten the song of the SC? Without losing power of course....

edit: OOOppss for got the k, for the word asked, in the title!! DOH!! 2wice today, misspelt stuff...

Muffler and silencers in the exhaust, would be how I'd do it. And yes, it would cost you a few HP, since the only way to mechanically quiet down exhaust noise is to disrupt the flow of exhaust.

Hypothetically, you could have something which emits the exact same sound waves in reverse phase from the exhaust, in the same field; which would negate the exhaust noise completely. But trying to make a system that does that perfectly, is not really worth the trouble.

Smaller pulley?

You'd need to get an intercooler if you drop the pulley too small, and get other supporting nods for higher boost levels, and get tuned. And/Or run a cold air intake with no restrictions.

Smaller pulley and/or bigger blower.

Or clamp a cat to your passenger seat by it's tail. It will make a very high pitched whine close to the SC. :P

BIGGER blower sounds incredible!!! Biggest blower you think you could get on a 3800, without much structual change??

M112 with a custom lower intake and/or intercooler?

May be overkill.

Well, if you've got a Series II 3800, you might want to look at upgrading to the Series III blower; maybe the heads too? I understand the blower on the Series III is much better than the previous ones, from the information I've seen. Don't know that it will give you more whine though.

I've heard that stock gen II to stock gen III, the GenIII does have a tiny bit louder of a whine to it.

Nice and quiet, sleeper until someone questions you.

Put an open element intake on it. Aka "cold air intake". The fenderwell intake on the Fiero is a very effective cold air intake from the factory, but pretty restrictive for a hungry supercharger. I had the factory airbox yanked out and replaced with a K&N for a Silverado in the fender with straight 3.5 in pipe coupled to the throttle body with reinforced rubber hose. It would shriek like a banshee at 3200 rpm threatening to suck birds and small rodents into the side of it. That was with a completely stock l67.
