hello, if you havent guessed yet im looking for a 3800 engine in hawaii. im planning on building a 350-400 horsepower either turbo or sc (havent decided yet) mated to a f40 six speed. the actual swap wont be a problem for me but procuring the engine and tranny are. i live in hawaii on the big island. ive tried the two junkyards in hilo and they didnt even have any pontiacs. any ideas?

Did you look for Buicks too ? I dont know anything about whats in Hawaii, but the 3800 was used in a lot of GM cars, not just Pontiac's. My 3800SC is out of a Buick Park Ave. "ultra"

Let's digress.

That Google map view of Kilauea is Amazing!...There is a newer picture at altitude and as you zoom in it goes to an older picture and you can see what has happened.....did it swallow up a junk yard?....maybe that's where your 3800 went... Ha!

Are you the only Fiero on the big island? I saw one on the way from kailua-kona to south point. I wanted to steal it for those twisty roads. I think it was a black fastback.

that might have been mine if you saw it more than 2 years ago. ive had her for about 4 months, and before that the PO had her stored in his yard. i think there is at least 8 on the island that are running, but as far as i know mine is the only 88gt.

I lived there for 5 years on oahu. now you could always go on the superferry for a weekend and get an engine from one of the yards there. i saw tons when i was there in 07.

i dont know i haven't been back to the island since 07 and it was running then. Also you could always get a small ocean crate and get it from there. would be cheaper than from the mainland.

lol yeah, or hire one of the canoe clubs to pick it up for me. on a side note ive decide to build a turbo motor with aftermarket internals so i only need a 3800 block and heads.
