I think the meaning here is "very large volume, destined for average consumers."

The Ford GT was "mass produced" but $150K isn't an easy price tag for 97% of USians to drop down. There's also the definition of "mid engined" to argue about, but we can presume RMR layout for sake of discussion.

914 is the worst Porsche made in my opinion. Ive seen them litterally rusted in half behind the seats.

Actually the Ford GT40 was built in England...Ford MC only supplied the engines and money to assemble them. Only the newer model Ford GT (they couldnt call it GT40) was made in the US. And that only bears a good resemblance to the original, nothing is the same except the layout.

In fact, if I remember correctly only one original was made for the street and only one with left side steering wheel.

I've seen Fieros that bad as well. Body might have been great, but the plastic panels aren't going to hold the frame together underneath it. But anything that old can get plenty of rust if not properly cared for. Unless the frame/chassis isn't steel either. But all things whither away in time.
