Hello Fellow Fiero Lovers,
I am writing the forum not because my cause is life threatening but rather life uplifting. I am a former Police Officer and I went legally blind in 1990 at about the age of 30. That was when I had to give up my baby (a 1984 Fiero SE),
Three years ago technology caught up and now has special glasses at a cost of $2000 a pair so I managed to put the money together and I returned to driving after 15 years. The first thing I did after getting the glasses was to but a 1987 Fiero GT which I love dearly. My next thoughts were of how I could help others like myself.
In late 2010 I formed the Driving Forward Foundation (http://drivingforwardfoundation.org), a nonprofit group to help subsidize the cost of the glasses so that others can start driving again as well. Currently the glasses are legal in about 2/3rds of the U.S.
Now I need to either raise money to fix the interior and pant in my GT or find someone to help. Once the car is done I’ll be putting on the car show run and sit with it to solicit donations for the foundation. I would pay for it myself but my source of income is my S.S.D. and I used what I could to get the doors open.
I and the car are in Phoenix. Is there anyone out there who can help me get this car finished to like new condition? It does not have to be show quality. It needs paint and interior work for the most part.
Thx, Terry
