They've started multiplying... '88 GT disguised as an '85 GT with a 4.9. Going to make it my new daily driver. Allante intake on the way! Front lowered 1". Hopefully I can paint it in the next year or two, and maybe stick a turbo on it (HP loss at 6,000 feet sucks!). Got a few issues, like I can't seem to pull codes and the check engine light is on, but it got 32 MPG on the highway! Better than my '85 at 30 MPG.

Yup, it's Carver1's former car. I'm a member of the Mile High Fiero Club, but haven't done any activities yet. I did run down to the potluck a month ago in my red '85 GT to see if I could find a ride in a 4.9. Hopefully this summer I'll have some free time to be more active.

not gonna lie i love the flat black look myself on your fiero. i've had thoughts about repainting mine flat black.
Same here, looks a lot better on a GT notchie then a Fastback. Really like that Fiero! What's the city MPG, if I may ask? Because I'm doing a 4.9/4T60e swap myself, and i was just curious.

I like the flat black too, especially with the black rims and taillights/window tint. Haven't decided what to do with paint yet, though it will stay black. Might try to make the metal show on the outer part of the rim, kind of the the lace rims. I got it flat black, it used to be white. It's just rattlecan paint it the moment, you can see where I've touched it up (darker spots).
I just got the temp registration today, so don't have city gas mileage yet. I did drive it about 100 miles today, all city, and got 15 MPG, but that included a lot of acceleration and extended idling. Hehe. I would expect low 20's with city and mid 20's mixed city and highway. The 32 MPG was all highway, 80+ MPH.

Heed the warning above....DO NOT use a 4.9 as a daily driver!! You'll stop showing up to work, miss appointments, never get anything done....and will be unable to wipe the smirk off your face. They are an absolute hoot to drive.
You got a good car.....the drivetrain in your car has been in my garage before....and Pat's as well. It's low mile and strong as an ox.
Enjoy!

Great looking car, Nate. Is it carbureted or throttle body? You get better mileage than I do! We'll have to go see Mike some day soon. Let you know in a PM.

You can't get a carbureted 4.9 unless you make it that way, and that's just a dumb idea.
Haha, well I did almost just drive by work today... couldn't wait for the day to end so I could drive it home. It's stock caddy right now, no carburetor. Just weighed it 1240 front 1660 rear with a full tank of gas.

He he. I've done that a few times now. I just get in the groove and forget that I actually have a destination. For the first 6 months I couldn't wait to get off work, just so I could take the long way home. Them 4.9's just suck you in...
