- 6 Solenoid Outputs (for controlling shift solenoids) - 3 PWM Outputs (for pressure control, TCC lockup, other) - LED Gear indicator - 3 Transmission switch inputs - VSS, Tach, and TPS inputs (for automatic mode) - Automatic / Manual mode selection - Up / Down manual shift button inputs (paddle shifting) - USB programming of shift points, solenoid selection, and features
This transmission controller is going Beta (soon) and based on another controller I built in 2005, with many upgrades and new features. I sold several of them to forum members, and still have my original in my fiero today.
The manual only TCM will be TBD (less than $300, delivered.) The automatic/manual TCM will be TBD (less than $500, delivered.)
I'm hoping to get the price to about $200 and $400, respectively, but the actual time allocation to mass produce these is still an unknown. Also the more interest there is, the cheaper they get.
Standard disclaimer of OFFROAD USE ONLY, may cause power train damage, may void warranties, etc etc, applies. Beta testers that want to help will get a substantial discount. Let me know if there is any interest!

Pros/Cons compared to MegaShift? I'm thinkin of building one of these if I run into issues with my AEM standalone controlling my auto this season...
It would be fully assembled for the price shown. (No soldering of components, no assembly, etc) USB support Self Diagnostics*
Otherwise not much different (from what I can see glancing through their specs... their website is pretty confusing)
edit: wanted to add *that in there, as I didn't see anything that suggested the MS did. Basically, the transmission and module are monitored continuously, and if any irregularities occur, a "check transmission light" is set, and outputs are adjusted to limit potential damage.

Would it be possible to program an upshift on the manual controller to prevent over revving and provide consistant full throttle runs? The same could be done with a shift light but it may make a more affordable option for those who don't want to buy the auto setup.

Yes, and there will be a downshift lockout feature where if you accidentally hit the wrong lever it won't respond by sending you into a tailspin..

something I've been thinking about is I have a cadillac shifter installed with tap shift that I'm currently using and I'm pretty sure it has a micro switch that shows when the shifter moves over for tap operation. I can't remember if it's open or closed in tap mode or how you plan on switching your controller but it would be a pretty neat setup to have it go from auto to manual automatically. I tried making paddles but it never quite looked right so I went to the cadi shifter.

Just an update... The boards came in and there were some fitment issues that prevented testing in vehicle. So new boards are on their way (probably be here by this time next week). In the meantime, here's some EEP (electrical engineering pr0n):

Do you think this enable the traction control feature on my 91 Allante' 4T60 trans model 1KZH ? I have an MSD D.I.S. 4 with programmable HSR feature and the Allante axles. http://download.telematica.gr/MSD/6211.pdf

Here's a shot of my shifter so you have an idea of what I'm wanting to do. It should work seamlessly. I like the manual shift but having an auto option would be nice for the lazy days.

I got my shifter on ebay, can't remember exactly how much it was but I'm fairly cheap so it couldn't have been bad. Like I mentioned before I am running my trans with a smart relay and don't have pressure control. for that I am waiting on ryan's computer but it seems like his free time is limited and it's unknown when this will be available.
This is cool. I am getting closer to a swap and will probably end up running a 4t65 behind a 3500. I can't commit right now since everything is up in the air, but I'll keep watching. The manual control would be nice for what I am planning.

Okey dokey - might as well update this. As is pretty typical, "life happens"... Obviously there is a lot of interest in this, so I am going to keep plugging along and get some (manual) testers out soon.

All of the more recent GM transmissions are shifted electrically but the frequencies/ waveforms that control the line pressure solenoids differ from box to box. For instance the GTP 4T65eHD from 03-up used a different control scheme than the earlier transmissions. If you are successful in making a universal trans shift controller I would venture to say that there will be demand. The market isn't just here but also with other swaps, street rods, N*'s and 1/4 mile cars and those that use aftermarket ECM.s like the Megasquirt and Haltech that are solely fuel injection and ignition control computers..
